If you need to adjust the postage cost to combine postage, you'll need to send one. If you allow the buyer to come and pick the item up, you'll need to send one with the postage cost removed so you don't pay fees on the postage component. You can send one after 2 or 3 days if a buyer has bought 1 item and hasn't paid yet (some new buyers think they have to wait for an invoice before they pay). You can send one whenever you like really. Most of my buyers who only buy 1 thing tend to pay straight away so there is no need for invoices. Most of the time I only need to send one if the buyer has bought a few things and I give them a combined postage reduction.

I just had a look at your active and sold listings and you are presently losing money on what you are selling. The only ones making any money is eBay. Take the ice cube trays that sold for 99c and free postage. You've been charged 9c on the sale price. Postage cost, $7.45, plus you've been charged roughly 74c in fees. So, for you to make 99c on the sale, you have paid out roughly $8.25. Same with that cute little plate.

You are going to lose money on the Dave Hughes discs. The hat you've got for $5 buy it now with free postage, you will also lose out. You need to increase your prices, or charge for postage, or you're just ripping yourself off. ALWAYS start auctions at the lowest you are willing to accept because quite often you only get one bid. If you want to offer free postage, make sure you incorporate it into the start price and include any fees that eBay charge (9.9%) on both the item price plus postage. For low priced items, you'd be better off having a separate postage cost.

Ignore any suggestions that eBay throw at you when you are creating your listings. They don't care that you are losing far more than you're earning. They are still getting paid, they don't care that they are taking the lot and you end up with less than nothing. Buyers don't have an issue paying for postage. They expect it. You can't add a postage cost after the sale.

You can't change the price if the item that now has bids, but for goodness sakes, go in and revise your listings and up the prices. Otherwise you may as well just throw them in the bin. At least that way you'll come out even. The Australia cd, up the price on that and the barometer, put on a postage cost of at least $8. Add a postage cost to both the TENS machine and also the pedometer. Weigh the TENS machine and if it weighs in at over 500g, go to the Aust Post website and work out the postage cost with their calculator. Remember to allow for packaging weight as well.

Sorry if I'm out of line with this off topic post. I just hate seeing new buyers getting ripped off because of eBay's ridiculous suggestions about attracting more buyers.

I only send an invoice straight away if the postage price needs adjusting. If the buyer has not paid by day 3 I send an invoice with a message added that unless they make payment, or contact me if they are having problems, within 24 hours I will have no choice but to open a non payment dispute in order to get my fees refunded.

Your barometer ended on the 13th and it hasn't been relisted. If you have already used up your 10 listings for the month, it won't be able to be relisted until next month. At the moment, you can only list/sell 10 items a month. What that means is, if you list 10 items on the 1st and 3 sell, you can't list anything new for the rest of the month while the remaining 7 are still active. Next month if the remaining 7 listings are still active, you'll be able to list 3 new items, which will total 10. If you want to list more than 10 things a month, give ebay a call and ask them to increase your limit.

I'm guessing you have reached your limit which is probably why you tried to relist the barometer and it didn't relist. That's not such a bad thing because if it sells for $8 with free postage, once again you will be losing money. You will be paying money out of your pocket for someone to take your items from you, instead of getting money in your pocket.

You also should revise your listing for the pet pedometer and adjust the postage to what it's going to cost. I would change it to $8 postage. I highly doubt the item will be under 20mm, so it has to be sent at parcel rate. If it sells for how it's listed at the moment, you'll be lucky to make a few cents after you've paid extra for the postage and eBay and PayPal take their fees out.

I hope you don't mind me picking your listings to bits. I just hate seeing people paying money out of their pocket instead of getting money in their pocket because of eBay's stupid recommendations.

I am happy to help out where I can. There are plenty of VERY experienced sellers here with way more experience than me, who would also be willing to impart their knowledge too. Ask any questions you like and there will be quite a few willing to help you out and steer you in the right path. We all made mistakes in the early days, so it's great that you can hopefully bypass some of them by asking for help early in the peace.

I think there would be quite a few new sellers who end up giving up because they follow eBay's advice, which for most things is to start auctions at 99c (to attract more buyers) and they discover they are actually in the red rather than making money. The reality is, once upon a time that did work and for a few sellers, it still does (it really depends on the item), but for most others, items sell with just one bid. Therefore, you always should start auctions at the lowest you are willing to accept and assume you will only get one bid.

When setting your price, always add a bit extra to cover eBay and PayPal's fees. It's 9.9% for eBay (including shipping, which you get charged fees on too) and I *think* it's 2.4% for PayPal, plus a non refundable 30c. If you want to offer "free" shipping, then you build the cost of postage into your price. It makes no difference if you offer free or costed, the fees are still the same. For a small parcel, which is an item under 500g and more than 20mm thick, I charge $8.25 when the actual postage cost is $7.45. It doesn't seem to bother buyers paying the bit extra as my postage stars have always remained at 5.

I strongly recommend investing in a cheap set of digital kitchen scales if you don't already have them. That way if you're not sure if something is going to go over 500g once packaged, you can pop them on the scales and check. You can then work out the postage cost using the Aust Post postage calculator (before you list the item). https://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/calculate-postage-delivery-times/#/

As I said, ask away. Plenty of people here to help. That's why we're here.

Edited to fix typos and grammatical errors.
