True message from EBay or is this a Scam?

Is there a scam/false message from Ebay Circulating at the moment? I received a email supposedly from EBay Trust & Safety, telling me that I have committed Copyright Violation, from Karen Millen Fashions Ltd for unauthorised Listing Content. I tried to enter the details in a message to EBay to find out what the listing was and when I entered the reference number as shown in the email, not a valid number, so can't send the query to them. Has anyone else received this or something similar? Is there another way to look up the deleted item, as I have no idea what I have done? thanks

Yes I got a message as well. Seems to me that the seller wants you to log in to eBay (which is their scam site) so that they can then get your password and from there they are possibily hoping that you use the same password for your PayPal account.

Just forward it and any other you might be worried about in the future to spoof@ebay.com

You will get a reply after a day or two letting you know that it is either a scam or a legit email from eBay.

This helps the boffins to try to keep on top of things.

Or just put your mouse over the link that the email inevitably tries to encorage you to click. You can see the Website Address URL in your email program's status bar.

Or simpler - just never click emails

I got one the other day ( different scam ) and the mouse overs actually indicated the real site but the scammer was encouraging the opening of an attachment.

The best giveaway is if they don't address you by name.

I got a real on the other day from PayPal about 'you have qualified for business support' but when I went to my PayPal account ( via my own link ) there was absolutely no mention of it.

Turns out it was real but it took the PayPal site about 5 days to catch up...lol

Never use links in emails or open attachments and you will not be robbed. I would say that 99% of users claiming to be 'hacked' have probably fallen for phishing scams.

Whenever I get an e-mail from eBay or PayPal I don't click the links within the e-mail, just in case its a scam directing me to a scam site. Instead I open my browser and log in myself.
