So, when a driver cooee's out to you at a bus stop from a car on a multi laned road....

"excuse me bloke, I am lost do you know where autobarn is"

how many posters on this forum standing at a bus stop would answer, boldly and curtly

A answers or thereabouts

"forget autobarn, you left front tyre is bald and on the median lane line and that is against the rules"

" you goose.... concentrate on the road and buy a GPS.... I always know where I am going.....idiot. If you do not know you should not be on the road"

"autobarn is a rip off I always go to repco nobody goes to autobarn why are you going to autobarn"

and if there was a group at the bus stop, how many would echo and reinforce information that the enquirer was NOT LOOKING FOR in unison.

and how many standing at the bus stop would answer

B answers or thereabouts

"next left, 200 metres down the road"

"sorry I do not know"

"sorry i do not know, but I think there is a MAP in the information centre 200 metres down the road"

C. answers or thereabouts

Ignore them completely but lurk and listen to see if anybody else answers them because you are looking for autobarn as well and do not want to appear foolish and be ostracized by the others

I don't catch buses, I live in the country and drive everywhere.

I know that Sunbus in Mildura is a great busline, but being in the country they do not run services as frequently as cityfolk have access to (sorry in advance if the term "cityfolk" offends anyone).

1 Too afraid to answer incase I smile and therefore must be mocking the driver.

2 If autobarn really existed then instruct driver how to get there.

3 Autobarn does not exist so put the question in with the one about where to get a verbal agreement form and tell the driver to stop taking the micky out of me.

I wouldn't nswer him because either:

a) he is driving and will be out of earshot before I can give him directions.

b) he has stopped and is obstructing traffic,

c) he has stopped and there is no other traffic on the road which would probably mean it is late at night - and I'm not about to get into conversataon with some random on a lonely road in the middle of the night.

I remember the song by Kraftwerk. I think an autobahn is either a German highway or freeway but I'm damned if I can work out why a song was written about it or what connection there is between this thread and selling.........

I am well past the age where loitering at bus stops etc is going to lead to random men wanting to strike up a business arrangement conversation 😉

Totally out of touch with street language too, never hear it referred to as autobahning, way back when it was just known as turning a trick. :^O
