digital*ghost, I could wish i had those spidey senses. Sometimes I don't sense imminent danger. A car knocked me over without my getting any sort of forewarning, darn it.

It's rather an odd post by the OP, is't it?.. Jeff Bezos is, to the best of my knowledge, not Jewish.

And if he were, what would be the need to make a point of it? Is referring to someone as "the Jew" based on racial or religious hatred? After all, it's certainly not needed as an identifier, since the number of people who aren't aware that Jeff Bezos is the founder and CEO of Amazon is negligible. ("Did you read about Jeff Bezos?" "Which Jeff Bezos, dear? Jeff Bezos the Spanish conquistador? Jeff Bezos the Texan chess player? Jeff Bezos the Boston actor who stars in "Store Trek: The Next Expenditure?" Jeff Bezos the French paraglider? Jeff Bezos the Italian priest who posed for Playgirl's centrefold? Jeff Bezos the Argentinian chef whose speciality is zebra on spitroast with dulce de leche chimicurri? Jeff Bezos the Russian novelist whose monumental work 'Grief and Giggling', set in 19th century Novgorod, outsold 'Crime and Punishment' and 'War and Peace' while being five times as long? Jeff Bezos the children's entertainer who is most famous for his daytime show 'We found Wally, now what are we supposed to do with him?'...Oh! You mean Jeff Bezos, the billionaire who owns Amazon. I'd never have guessed you meant him!")

And most worrying of all, is there something amiss with being Jewish, anyway? The OP's use of descriptors such as "the Jew makes his delivery drivers urinate in bottles" and "children did piece work like making matches and were paid just enough to pay the rent to their Jewish slum lord", with reference being made to the bubonic plague (apparently as a result of Jewish slum lordship) seems irrational but with all the fervour of an Alfred Rosenberg. It doesn't appear to be based on personal religious belief, unless socialism is considered religious rather than political.

I have no idea what urination in bottles, bubonic plague, Uber, gulags, #METOO, and knitted toilet roll covers have to do with being a seller on eBay. Is the OP a disgruntled taxi driver who's been accused of something indecent by a rag doll maker?

What seems likely is that the OP has been reading propaganda, possibly promoting the notion of jewish Bolshevism, written in inflammatory style, and it's so fired up the OP that he is abusing both eBay buyers and eBay sellers of being part of some sort of conspiracy.

I am left feeling confused by the OP, wondering whether he thinks that Jeff Bezos owns Uber or eBay or simply owns a global bottle urination training company.

As i understand it, eBay's four major shareholders are:

Pierre Omidyar (founder) - no involvement with bubonic plague or gulags

John Donahoe - currently PayPal chairman (not remember lovingly by eBay members but still no connection with bubonic plague)

Devin Wenig (current chairman)

Michael Jacobson (Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs for eBay)

I see no one called Yersinia pestis in that list.

Interestingly and bizarrely, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that ❝Despite the vast devastation caused by this pandemic [the Black Death], however, massive labor shortages due to high mortality rates sped up the development of many economic, social, and technical modernizations (Benedictow, 2008)❞

Note: (Benedictow is Ole Jørgen Benedictow, professor emeritus at U. of Oslo. His book The Black Death 1346-1353: The Complete History is substantial although some of his figures are controversial.) The OP may be interested in purchasing a copy - it is available from a number of sellers on eBay.

Not selling all that much recently, but OMG, the number of non-payers is ridiculous. At least one or two a week. Now when you only sell a few items each week it’s beyond a joke.

as a seller, if you do the wrong thing (and even when you do the right thing) you get punished, but dead beat non payers get away with it.

what peevs me even more is, I send a polite email asking if they wish to cancel the transaction, there’s no issue but could they let me know out of courtesy. But of course not. Plain rude! Might start just listing BINs with immediate payment.

I hated immediate payment when ebay forced it on me, but now I'm glad they did it. I haven't had any non-payers (of course) and no cancellations either. Eventually the penny dropped and I worked out that capped postage works really well for my items (all letters) and I never have to refund postageor lose fees on excess postage.

You can still have non payers with immediate payment, but it's much less common. If you only offer paypal, then it can happen when they have paypal linked to a transaction account rather than a debit/credit card. Or obviously, if you accept other payment types like direct deposit or cash on pick up.

I have all 3 and have not had a non payer for about 4 months. Closer to xmas time it is much more common though.

Making all your listings BIN with immediate payment will completely eliminate non-payers.

I promise you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

It's one of the best tools a seller can utilise to minimise their stress levels.

Just be aware this happens with best offer too (probably 20% of the time for me) so be ready for some buyers not to pay if you accept their offer. I’ve tried the “auto decline lowers below” option as well as limiting buyers with x amount of unpaid strikes. Doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference. It’s easier (and faster) to just cancel if they don’t respond and relist quickly. 🙂

Making them immediate payment required will work in eliminating mostly all of the non-payers.

But keep this in mind....

If your items are the type that commonly are bought in multiples then this will mean most buyers will pay for each one separately.

This means if they buy 10, say, then you would have 10 payment transactions. PayPal will slug you the 30-cents "flagfall" fee for each payment transaction. This is 9 extra lots of 30-cents = $2.70 extra fees to PayPal.

Unless your buyers know how to use the cart and put them all in the cart before making the single payment.

But we find most don't use the cart.

So we have not gone immediate payment required for this very reason.

But still the number of non-payers has beome small these days.

Our approach is very simple:

(a) if buyer has not paid by 4 days, open a not paid for the transaction.

(b) if still not paid after another 4 days calim fee refund for the transaction.

(c) add buyer to our 100+ list of black-listed buyers.

Non-paying is the bad side of auctions. I offer auctions with a BIN option.

I give the auction bidders 5 days to pay, stating on the invoice.

If they haven't paid, then day 6 I start the claim non pay for my fees back.

not hard, just a pain to do it.

If it did happen to me more often it'd certainly be aggravating.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I think I've had one non payer in the last 12 months. I can count on 2 hands the amount I've had since the start of my selling career. (nearly 10 years I think). I run both auctions and BINs. Like you, maybe it's the type of items I sell, where the buyers are generally reasonable people. A lot of my items are one offs or unique items, so it would be unlikely they found the exact same one cheaper, so decided not to pay.

In the rare event I do get someone who doesn't pay, the instant the 4 days is up, I open a dispute. The instant the next 4 days are up, I close it (or as soon as I can after). I figure if they are going to pay, it's going to be within 4 days, so none of this giving them 5 or 6 days, then opening a dispute on day 6 or 7. Why delay the inevitable! Generally if someone wants the item and can't pay straight away, or they are watching other items, they send a message.

Any non payers get an invitation to my party list. They don't need to RSVP. I have zero time for non payers and I don't let them get to me. I dispute, relist and move on. However, as you said, if it was a regular thing, like it can be for some people, then I'd probably get more upset about it. Having blocks in place seems to weed out a lot of the serial pests and I think that really helps. So many sellers don't know about buyer blocks. It would make the world of difference if the blocks were set by default, and if you didn't want them, you could opt out.

What irks me even more is, some will ask a question, (the last one wanted the actual shoe measurements) I give them all the details they ask for, then they bid, I would generally end the auction early if there were no watchers, and then they just don’t pay 😡😡😡

After cancelling my Paypal years ago after selling a computer on eBay that cost me 10% which was literally over $100 I stupidly decide to sell another computer on eBay. After one day some buyer with an indian sounding name with a feedback of 2 buys my item says they will pay then no contact at all. Now I can't lodge a non-paying bidder request until Monday. I see eBay treats their Sellers like Uber Drivers or Amazon slaves - like dog **bleep**. Now I know why I left eBay in the first place. I got suckered back with discounts buying stuff on eBay I didn't really need. I hear ppl are using Facebook now but I detest that comapny so I'll just keep the stuff I have or sell it locally perhaps on gumtree lolol (another eBay company..) I feel your pain - There has to be a better way to make some extra money. Good luck, F the assholses they are loosers and will always be loosers.

Yeah I know - When the buyer of my item (**bleep**ing Indian sounding name witha a feedback of 2) said they will pay I told them it's ok if they changed their mind. Now they've dropped of the face of the earth. I have since learned this is actually quite common (the seller staing it's ok if they no longer want it) but no the just **bleep**ing dissapear like a toad. **bleep** eBbayl, now I know why I left. I dont need this **bleep**.

Thanks for the heads up - I will follow the procedure. As soon as it's cancelled or whatever I'm never using eBay again. I left becasue of Paypal fees years ago

You knew the T&Cs before this time. Or you should have, given previous experience.

A whole four days to open a case, 2 of them a weekend. Shocking. And you still have the computer. As you are obviously not going to relist it, unless you're going to go over the current billing period there is a nett loss to you of nothing. Otherwise, you'll have to stump up the selling fees and try to get the money back from eBay. Maybe list at a time that means non-payment won't roll your fees into the next month. Sorry, I forgot, you won't be listing again.

20% of the time ! **bleep** that - one last comment hear to get it off my chest. There are better ways of making a few extra dollars than eBay facilitating assholses to **bleep** over good ppl. I'll mow the odd lawn, do something. Nescessity is the mother of all invention - besides Henry Fords revolution hanging the usurios bankers that have **bleep** us all over. Good luck - I wish us all here will find some far better way to make some money. **bleep** the miserable assholses in charge of eBay.

Well now I know it could be eBay themselves being close to the end of month and all - they will never get a cent out of me for this. What a dirty low dog scumbag company. Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag !
