I've just recently started to sell on ebay. I used to sell a lot a few years ago but have only been using ebay to buy until recently. I'm having trouble getting my head around the new, convaluted payments to the seller. I want to know when I can get paid for goods that I owned and sold on ebay, with the funds apparently being available. I WANT MY MONEY FOR THE SALES OF MY PROPERTY THAT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY EBAY.IT SEEMS LIKE I HAVE TO BEG FOR MY OWN MONEY??? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS SITE. IT USED TO BE SO SIMPLE - LIST AN ITEM-GET PAID-POST THE ITEM-LEAVE AND RECIEVE FEEDBACK ---SIMPLE!!! It seems that I have to BEG for my own money. Isn't this a form of theft?? I want to list a lot of items for sale but am now too scared as I worry that I will not get my money or have to jump through hoops, beg..and wait for A LONG TIME! What has happened to ebay??

Hey mate, basically you have to link your bank account to eBay for direct deposits into it (they use Ayden, it doesn't go to your PayPal account anymore, if that's what you're wondering). And then you gotta wait a month for the money to come in so that eBay can help the buyer with any issues or scams which may result from the sale. This is because you haven't been selling for a long time, so you are classed as a newbie again and this also protects the buyer in case your account was hacked. It's just their procedure now.

It doesn't matter how much you sold years ago, the rules apply to all sellers and all sellers agree to those rules when they list

Have you fully completed sign up to Managed Payments and been verified to sell?

All sellers have been required to do so for over 6 years now

You agreed to the 15-30 days hold on your funds when you listed, and yes, the holds will apply to all sales until you prove yourself as a seller, and again if you go a long time between selling

None of your completed listings are close to being 30 days ago

Begging is not going to achieve a single thing

No, it is not theft, it is the terms you agreed to when you listed

I too have just sold an item, first for about 10 years, it will in all probability be the last as well.

Not fully understanding the new system I went ahead and sold and was advised by eBay that purchaser had paid, I mailed the item away on Tuesday, is there a button to press to say that it’s been sent? I can’t see one, maybe you don’t have to anymore. Seriously dislike the new eBay.

If you shipped the item with tracking, when you upload the number it will automatically show as sent.

If you shipped as an untracked letter, click on the three dots next to the "Get postage label" button on the order details page, and select "Mark as sent" from the dropdown list.

Thanks for the reply. I sent the items that I sold and was eventually paid so it worked out. I have my Bank account linked as I went through the process they asked of me. It just seems quite insane that ebay can hang onto a seller's money in a type of escrow and in the meantime they make money from interest on those funds. I got a shock but after getting my money I feel a bit more at ease with the system, even if I very much disagree with it.In my experience in the past, as a buyer and seller, it was usually the buyers that were the problem. So many seemed to have a strong sense of entitlement and I remember one saying that they were waiting too long on a parcel from me, a parcel that I'd driven quite a few kilometres to deliver promptly and Aus Post had obviously been their usual slow self in handling. That clown had the cheek to make a comment saying something like "oh, I shouldn't have to wait so long for something that I could've bought at xxxx shop for not much more cost" - when it was THEM who had bid the amount that they paid! I didn't force that nutter to bid up to nearly shop retail price, Entitled children in this world! I totally understand the need to protect buyers from dodgy sellers/product etc..but in the end it still comes down to the old adage of LET THE BUYER BEWARE, in other words be careful. I have been burnt on products and dodgy sellers also. I buy things a lot on ebay and elsewhere. I always bent over backwards to help buyers and will continue to go out of my way to put them first, example: my local post office is just a small LPO at the local service station and sometimes they say that their computer is down etc...sooo instead of driving just 2km to them I drive a round trip of close to 40km to a larger rural town of around 2,000 people so that I can post the parcel to the buyer in good time..and avoid spiteful feedback. It's lucky that my car is on LPG so the fuel cost is not as bad as it might be. I still effectively lose money on the postage, I don't gain a cent and I don't ever believe in profiteering from runninng postage services - that's up to the courier or Australia Post. I'm only selling to clear out some items that I can live without and get some very much needed funds for repairs and maintenance on my home. I'm starting to (further) see just how entitled people are these days.

I find that the new ebay is a dog's breakfast and it's like they expect me to be a tax lawyer/financial expert juts to do simple selling of basic products.I found it easier to sell my home and buy a downgraded one, granted that I had conveyancers etc involved. It feels almost like ebay don't want a person to sell.

Basically you will get paid when ever ebay feels like it. I have the same issue after not selling for 12 months ebay put a hold on all payments when I started selling again. Payment 2 days after confirmed delivery for items with tracking and 30 days after payment for any without. After days of reading policy, talking with chat operators and phone calls was told they want to see a history of successful selling. Was told a month and conformation of successful delivery on 10 items would do it. 2 months later, 100s of items, plenty of items with tracking confirming delivery 100% positive buyer feedback no open cases no negative feedback nothing has changed. Sorry I lie ebay have extended it to 3 days after conformation of delivery before payment for tracked items.

Ebay for me has become the last resort platform for selling items that I havent sold elsewhere.
