I find it amazing how people can ask: is this a DVD or a video?

said it in the title and the description, but after one of my buyers paid today for 2 lots, they decided they dont want it - thought they were DVDs when It clearly says videos, oh and their son bidded on it

Sounds like they just changed their mind and looked for an easy way out, but I will refund them after a Mutual Cancellation. Not to bed nasty, but they cant read obviously!

I can understand it would be frustrating, and most people would assume videos = VHS tapes, but at the same time the word video became synonymous with movie and to this day many people will say 'I'm going to the video store' when they hire a movie, even though there's unlikely to be a tape in sight, so there would also be quite a few who don't translate the word video to VHS tape.

As you seem to have plenty of room in the titles, I would suggest adding the word tape to them - VHS Video Tapes would be ideal. You could also even have a pic of a tape outside of its cover, so that people who don't read all of the listing / description will have an immediate visual.

Keep in mind I'm not suggesting it's your fault people are confused, just that there are a few things you can do to decrease the chance people won't understand what the listing is for.

Lol DG going by the number of people that think D stands for collection and combined means discounted is it any wonder some people think a video is a film in any format. 😉

OP I have to agree, remember you are always playing to the lowest common denominator so have to spell things very clearly using words of one syllable :^O

When I studied retail at TAFE we were told to treat the customer as if they were a 5 year old.. Meaning that you shouldn't assume that they will read something as you see it..

We had to do an exercise where we had to write directions for boiling a kettle and it had to include an instruction to fill the lettle with water as you couldn't assume that they would automatically know how to do something.. This is also why they have those tags on electrical items that say "Do not use in Bath" etc in case someone attempts a refund and says "Well it didn't say I couldn't do it"
