Greetings,

Is it really that easy to get scammed when selling items?

EG: I sell an item and send it, buyer receives goods and says box had a brick inside etc and opens a paypal dispute for a full refund. Buyer keeps item and sends back brick.

Am I missing something? Seems like a completely floored system.

Cheers.

The buyer would be asked by paypal to go to the police with all the packing and "brick" and they would know if it was sent by weighing the parcel and comparing it too the weight seen on the postage label.

Assuming the item sent was not heavier than the brick of course.

I was sent an empty box and I had to get a police report before paypal would refund me.

So it is not as easy as that.

If this has happened call paypal and demand you speak to a supervisor and tell them you were scammed and give them any proof you have.

If you have a copy of the lodgement receipt that will have the weight on it and you can send a copy of that to paypal.

I'm assuming youre citing this as an example of potential buyer fraud on EBay, and this hasn't actually happened to you yet right?

Of course anybody could claim this, but what are the odds really? It has never happened to me and I don't know anybody it has happened to either. But technically it could happen I suppose, and more than likely probably has happened to some poor sod, but why would you worry about something like that until it actually happened?
