Yet again ebay bumps it fees up. Just like when they made paypal compulsery ...everyone threatened to leave ...all crying in their beer but have a look ...ebay has more sellers now than ever ....

NONE of you will bail ...and those that do will come back because lets face it ...there is NO OTHER place that works even close to ebay ...and they know it.

So suck it up folks ...you will all keep selling and the fatcats at ebay will still get their money !

I'm not going anywhere. Just trying to work out the best way to go about dealing wirh the increase, absorb the cost or increase prices. Got to learn to adapt on ebay. As you say there is no other site that comes close. Having your own website is easy to set up but to have traffic to it is another thing.

We are not leaving... yet.

But we are getting close to having our own independent website up & running now.

We will be doing all we can to make that work and will continue trading on here while that happens.

But if it can perform sufficiently to support us then we will be closing out of here. Or at least reducing our presence.

Just don't know how long that will take but we are determined to make it work with the help of a professional IT savvy friend.

I hope they are experts on SEO because that in itself is pretty much a full time job if you want to rank highly. It's very hard trying to do it yourself and run your business.

We have had quite some discussion on this exact topic with him.

He has quite the track record in SEO with other customers. And knows this aspect very well.

And he is prepared to stay with us for the long haul to keep it all working well too.

So we are quietly confident.

I hardly think ebay shareholders are going to get rich quick charging me an extra 7c in fees for items with quoted postage, most of my items are free post anyway.

It was inevitable that this was going to happen eventually in Australia so live with it or leave, your choice.

Don't underestimate what can be achieved overtime when an Aussies sense of fairness is offended.

Just because something ebay rolled out fvf on post in other countries does NOT give them a mandate to roll out here.

Exactly, and it doesn't hurt to at least bring these issues to the attention of people or organisations that can do something, where possible and necessary. Sellers may be between a rock and a hard place, but it doesn't make them powerless, even if at times we feel like it.

If someone is in favour of FVF on postage, and all the possible ramefications, so be it, but for those that consider the increased costs and diminished choices to be something they'd rather not contend with, it only takes a moment or two to submit a complaint to the ACCC and/or sign the petition - it will be time well spent if it improves the current situation.

Just jump onto bulk edit and up your postage cost by 10% ... or maybe 15% ...hell why not 20% lol

We use Alibaba to source quite a bit of our basic stock.

But they are predominantly wholesale outlets where you need to satisfy MOQ conditions to buy. At least in our particular category. We can usually satisfy the requirements as we are resellers.

But yes... if they roll into town and reduce these MOQs then I'd say look out ebay.

Sure that would be the easy way, BUT do I want to drive customers away from my store by doing that. I'm not so sure.
I already offer free postage on over 400 of my 600+ listings because they are small value and small postage cost. But for the bulkier things I think it will be a combination of the two, increase and absorbing the cost. Will have to wait and see.

If you absorb the extra costs your profitability is decreased.

That is all Ebay is worried about. How to make more money . They do not care if you pay it or the customer pays it.

The whole thing is the relentless push to increase profit.

I am now making my priority increasing my profit. If I can not sell profitably I will leave it sitting in the shed till I can find a profitable way to sell.

When listing fees increased to $ 1.50 I stopped listing beer cans for less than $ 5.00 as the fees took it all.

My box slowly empties as I sell them for 5 , 10, 15 dollars and eventually somebody buys them

No longer a regular income but stil profitable.

My other question is if Quicksales starts to sell , how long would it take ebay to buy them and remove the competition just like all the other ones they bought.
