A courier service costs more than Australia Post so I suggest you send things via them. A courier is suitable for large heavy things.

There is a lot of competition out there and you need a lot more listings to compete.

If you are prepared to loose a bit ti get started try some low priced auctions.

It really is trial and error and having the the right thing listed at the right time for the right buyer.

I know its hard i struggle too. Its all about trial and error, finding out what actually sells on Ebay. Once you get an idea dont forget to do your completed listings search in Australia to see if the item is selling and what its selling for. Also if you dont have a store IMO ( and others may disagree) make sure you are pricing just slightly lower then your competitor so that people can find you at least under lowest price search. Also make sure you do some auctions, its another way to get your listings actually viewed and then people actually see your other listings and may buy full price if they miss out on bidding or need the item right away. The trick is to get your listings viewed and that can be really hard if there are pages and pages of similar listings above you.

You need to have a look at your measurements...the bouquets are listed as being 25-27cms in diameter but they are coming in a box measuring 10cm x 10cm x 10cm.

And you are using the USPS Priority Mail International Service for items coming from mainland China.

A few key points -

Your titles need more keywords, of the four used in the first listing I looked at (Pretty Bouquets Colours Available), IMO only one is actually relevant and, more importantly, the kind of word people would use to look for products like yours (that is, Bouquets - the rest aren't words people would generally use in a keyword search). You need more relevant words - eg rose, specific colours, other things like material if they're fake, or fresh if that's what they are (I honestly can't tell :8} ).

Having country of origin as China suggest to me they're not fresh flowers, but chances are you'll get someone making assumptions one way or the other, not ask questions to clarify, and you'll wind up with less than positive feedback.

Lastly, you have 'colour: as seen on the picture' in the description but have various colour combinations in the image gallery; that's likely to confuse some people, and many won't bother taking the time to clarify listing details with you, they'll just move on to another listing that leaves nothing to guesswork.

If they're only available in one colour per listing, you should only have one colour shown (and have that colour in the title). If people can choose from a range of colour combinations, you need to make it very clear what colour combos are available, as well as how people can choose and let you know what they've decided upon. It's also a good idea to have a 'default' colour clearly stated - eg, if a colour is not selected by the buyer, xx colour will be sent by default.

I hope that helps.

Just had a look at your bouquet listings, try adding some more information on the item, such as:

what materials are used?

how are they made, are they handmade?

how should they be handled/cleaned/maintained/looked after?

Are they waterproof?

how should they be stored etc etc.

You are selling a wedding bouquet – which is a big deal for most brides who want everything perfect on their big day, so promote the item and highlight the positives/benefits/after care etc. At the price you are charging I would want to know as much information as possible on the item and really want to know exactly what I am getting and paying for. At the moment, your listing information makes me wonder, if I purchase, am I going to pay all this money and get some cheap and nasty flowers made in China? And I don't say that to cause offence, as I do think the photos of the bouquets look really nice, but with little information on the item itself it does put that question in my mind.

I also suspect that the delivery times are too long - so many people want things quickly.

When we started selling on eBay we had some key criteria we wanted:

1, Readily available

2. Low price but reasonable margins

3. Easy to post both in terms of size and fragility

4. Something we could hold in stock in sufficient volumes to meet sales, with short supply times.

5. Some key items that provide a point of difference.

Other people above have mentioned other factors such as key words and presentation. You also need a range of items (having 100 items makes you more visible than if you had 10).

The other ingredient is patience ... it can take time for things to happen ... and it might never happen.

maybe you need some listings that are just for Australian customers to get you going. Order ten of the bouquets from your supplier and have them delivered to you. Take your own photos for a couple of listings and do not use 'stock' or 'catalogue' photos. For these 'Australia only' listings, quote an Australian$ price and not US$, and make sure your settings are for Australia only.

Tidy up your listing conditions. I looked at one where you state "Returns for refunds must arrive within 7 days of purchase date" yet the delivery time is 15-40 days! In other words you have no returns accepted for this item as it is impossible to return within 7 days of purchase. Even if you were posting from Australia to Australian addresses it would be near impossible to return the item to you within 7 days.

Potential buyers would be concerned about losing their money if the product does not live up to their expectations. They would have questions like "If it is shipped from China would I have to return it to China by trackable means?" and "If it takes up to 40 days to arrive and for some reason it runs late getting here, will it pass the 45 day PayPal claim period?" which are legitimate questions/concerns for buyers.

I know buyers would be able to claim on day 44 to ensure they are covered by PayPal protections, but inexperienced/new buyers get trapped all the time by the 45 day deadline and messages from sellers saying they have sent another one or it should arrive in the next week.

OMG DG! You broke the keywords! Now the listings only say Bouquets

eta128688, would you manage to find your listings if you were looking for these items? And would you buy from yourself if you found them? That's the key question.

Nahh - I'm giving up. Click Frenzy broke the internet. And I just noticed Mike and Molly is on Channel Nine. No more puter screens and adult toys for me tonight. Just some good ol' fashioned remote control button pushing 😄
