Blocked Bidder

I was doing a quick check on bidders & found one who likes to give a few negs,neutrals,feedback revisions.

I decided to block her bids,so i just found a message from her wanting to know why.

Sooo do i tell her & risk abuse?

What do others do?

She was the high bidder on a top that ends tomorrow,i didn't cancel her bid i just put her on ye olde special list.

She's given others 10+ negs 10+ neutrals 5 false + 4 fb revisions so looks a bit of a pain.She often doesn't get parcels too.

Hard to type,got cat sleeping on my arm.

Why not be honest? Just tell her that her buyer profile doesn't meet your preferred criteria for buyers of your specific items, and leave it at that. It is your absolute right to deny certain types of buyer from purchasing your items, and eBay can only agree. Also, add her user ID to your BBL so that she can't buy any BIN items you may put up for sale. I blocked a buyer just the other day because although his two offers were rejected, when I checked his feedback I noticed that of the feedback he'd left for sellers, all 5 of them were negatives, and I wasn't prepared to take the chance that I may become the sixth.

yeah, but what iof they get nasty?

some people will get offended at being rejected

I understand where the OP is coming from.

telling them you don't want to trade with them is akin to telling someone they have ugly kids!

what do you mean she was the high bidder?

I've never blocked someone l;ike this before

do you mean she bid - you let her bid stay and then added her to the BBL meaning she can't bid again?

If you really don't want to get into it, just say something like "It is my policy not to discuss the details of private (or business) decisions" You can add something like "I apologise for any offence or concern caused, and I thank you in advance for respecting this policy".

You can also make it so that in the future, blocked bidders can not contact you (though it won't work if they have an active bid on one of your items). The option will be in site preferences somewhere, I think.

Yeah you can & it does work.As you said,I've done it a couple of times before but never got called on it.

Digi thanks you have great ways on managing people politely without causing offence.I kinda think of you as Judge Ghosty lol.I've got that setting already on but cos she put a bid on she can contact me.

I was trying to find a judicial looking ghost picture or smiley to suit, but I don't think one exists, so this will have to do...I'm more like this most of the time, anyway,

Personally I would cancel her bids - I think it would then be walking the talk of any message you send to her.

Thanks,i appreciate all the replies.I just woke up half hr ago so haven't done anything yet.

I've dealt with some with worse fb & not had a problem & i really don't think of her as the worst but most of her + are just "great seller".Who knows what lies under that but there's probably a lot of dinged stars.

There's a thread on the P.S board,i mite add a cryptic hint in that.I don't really want to splash it around here in open waters.

No.When you block someone who is bidding,it will still go up to their max bid if they already put one in but won't allow any bids after that.

Isn't it strange now that we have to walk on eggshells just to try and sell something.
When I started with Ebay many years ago you could offer an item , hopefully sell it, pay a small commission to Ebay and leave honest open feedback.
If there was the occasional problem you could talk with the other party , and explain your actions.
Now it is a conspiracy, performed anonymously while walking on eggshells.
sub plots. perceptions, spin and innacurate incomplete stories.
WOW THIS WOULD MAKE A GOOD PLOT FOR A SPY THRILLER.
COULD BE CALLED HOW TO MAKE THE RICH EVEN RICHER MAYBE!!!!!!!

well thats unethical. blocking them from bidding but allowing their previous bid to push the price up.

I would probably ignore the buyers question.

I have come across a buyer ( of clothes) registered 2 months, left 6 FB - 2 negs, 2 neutrals. 2 pos. For non positive FB - doesn't contact sellers first. Reasons given not neut/neg worthy. Value of items bought $1 -$15.
