Do many sellers use eBay's Listing Designer? and does it cost much?

Hi peeps! After 2 months using very plain looking listings with fair success, I now feel confident to start playing about a bit. Have any of the boardies used the Listing Designer? do they charge much for it? any pros and cons I need to be aware of?

I really appreciated the advice I got last time I came a-begging: I will be grateful for any I get this time, I promise, and I hope some of the previous responders reply again.

Any other crumbs of wisdom will be considered seriously- no matter how small they seem to you, they may well be enormous to me!:-x

Im not a big fan of them myself but I think they are only 10c each and possibly free with TL 🙂

I think it's free with TL, but I haven't and won't use it.

I work on KISS and don't want to distract potential buyers from the important stuff. Though from some of the questions I get, I doubt some even read my uncluttered descriptions.

I've noticed lots and lots of listings with no background and very little information do very well. Why, I have no idea.

I like it when sellers "make an effort" because I'm a very visual person but I also know tons of people who pay absolutely no attention whatsoever to anything except the photo's, and how the item is described.

I think it depends on what your selling, as to what type of listing template or format works.

My current inkfrog template is a little more "busy" than I would like, but I just haven't got around to selecting a new one.

As fellow clothing seller, IMO some color and pretty borders seems to work well with fashion for women, but I think something more masculine works better with mens gear. I have different template choices for different types of stock.

Overall though, one ebay, I think that great photos and good descriptions will get you far more sales than pizazz ever will.

don't forget that mobile sales account for around 30% now so you dont want so much going on that they can't get the important bits.

Listing Designer is free if used through Turbo Lister but it is very restricted and rival sellers may very well be using the same design as you.

If you google free ebay templates you will find many that are very easy to use and if you use a site like robshelp.com you can use stock templates and change them too suit or easily create your own.

I use something called Listing Factory... I pay for it but I love it... I think it makes the listing look more professional.

Catspjs, I take your point but I don't think yours are OTT "busy". My idea of busy is miles long with yards of breathless text and flashing lights and animated seahorses and scrolling galleries and God help me-music. This is a look I intend to avoid, it must be hell for people on slow connections.

Phorum, I don't know if I could use Turbo Lister, since I use a Mac.

I had a look at Auctiva: I gather that one is Mac compliant and some of the free templates I looked at seem to embed within Auctiva- layers of complexity and I am not up to speed on the tech side, maybe later.

And then if the trend identified by kazbar continues and increases, being basic may be an advantage anyhow.

A lot of the iphone listings are very short on detail, and I wonder if they generate heaps of issues after the parcel arrives? NSD would be hard to establish in the almost total absence of description-perhaps they're onto something!:^O

Most of the effort I make is in the photographs and photo editing, I try to write a good description and mention any flaws I see in the hope that my buyers won't get nasty surprises,but I haven't tried to pretty up the page so far.

I use turbo lister and there are many different templates there. Simple and easy to use, save, and very quick when you get the hang of it. Linda

I've used Listing Designer a few times through My eBay and at the preview page before listing, it doesn't show any fees. So I think it's free for the moment!

Lots of great designs to try out with different font styles, etc. If you want centred text, just make sure to click on "centre" in the description box. I tried the Collectables design once and it showed as centred in the preview but was still to the left in the listing.

Hi guys, I just checked and Turbolister will not tun on the Mac, so basically that means I cn't use it or anything that requires it.

At present I'm having a look at Auctiva via their 30-day free trial.Soul, thanks: I'll try that then.
