Question buying own item in Selling on eBay

this may sound silly, but if I'm not happy with the way my selling auction is developing, is it OK to bid on my own item to get it back?

NO! Firstly you cannot bid on your own item unless you have a different account, and if you do that, your time on ebay will be very short lived. It is called shill bidding and is againt the rules. Most experienced bidders only bid in the last few seconds of an auction, and most sellers only start their item at the price they are happy to accept, as you should have done. You may find your item reaches an acceptable price, and if it doesnt, it is a lesson learned for next time.
