Question Returns after return policy date has expired? in Selling on eBay

Buyer purchased a battery phone cover off me on Dec 23rd, I posted it immediately, now he emails today (24 days later) and says it only works 45% and would like a replacement. My returns policy is set at the 3 day time frame. Any suggestions how to deal with this to avoid him getting crabby and leaving negative feedback?

Thanks!
