Re: Comment on ebay User Privacy Notice 2025 - See Section 12. eBay and AI

    Hi ebay,

Love your site & services, and a longtime user.

    However,

Re: Recent User Privacy Notice 2025 - Section - 12. eBay and AI
If "ebay", or possibly any ebay Third Party, is going to use MY DATA to:

    1) Train an AI Model, or
    2) Develop & Provide AI-powered tools, products and services......
THEN I WANT TO BE COMPENSATED, PAID, RECEIVE SOME SORT OF BENEFIT FROM THE USE OF ......MyData.

I have turned off the appropriate "AI user preference", most likely a futile effort!?

BUT I think you (ebay) have "stepped over the mark" using/mining MyData for ebay's AI business related goals, &/or your third party's AI goals WITHOUT compensating the "users" who ARE the data!!!!

Note well: I tried to email this comment directly to "an adult or management in ebay"......BUT all my email attempts got "Bounced".......So I guess I have to air my "comment" in a public forum, not my first choice as "a fully initiated adult male!"

Regards, and you are stretching this relationship.

I don't give a rat's how eBay use my data.

If anybody is foolish enough to use eBay's version of AI, which is only A, they deserve what they get.

I use RI which works for me.

Use the second link in Casey’s post; scroll down to the Opt out toggle.

What the heck - the option should have been ' opt in ' - not to have to choose ' opt out '.

I’ve also opted out. I note, however, that the wording is “You have a right to object”, which is about as wishy-washy and feeble as it could be. Of course I have a right to object! That shouldn’t need to be codified into a YES/NO option. That eBay have worded it in this way makes me fear that the scenario is like this:

“Oh, great Overlord,” lisped the wispy-pated major-domo, hurrying to kneel before the purple-garbed Overlord sprawled upon his throned divan, “The Counteth hath thent in her refuthal with all due hathte, dethpatched by ten guardth in her colourth, to declare that thee protectth all her rightth to her data and informathion.”

The Overlord idly picked between his great yellowing teeth where a small chunk of meat had lodged. “That is her right”, he said, shrugging. “All of our subjects can object. Captain of the Data, oy!”

The Captain, smartly attired in red and gold uniform with a hat resembling a toilet brush stuck in a pavlova, saluted. “Yes, great Overlord?”

    “Initiate the Data Feed!”

“And shall we exclude the Countess’ data?” queried the Captain. “And that of all who have refused permission?”

The great Overlord snorted derisively. “Of course not! We respect their right to object and our right to ignore their objections, of course! And now drink to celebrate our forthcoming brave new world!” Upon which he drew a great tankard towards him, quaffing its contents and wiping his mouth as he gave forth a mighty belch.

..........the question is my dear Countess Almirena, "Who do you actually Object To At Ebay?"

.......As the communication from ebay appear all 1 way; No email addresses to "object to", no phone numbers to "object to".

No "Adults in the ebay room", certainly if you have a Query which is off-ebay-script.

Anyway, really appreciate your comment/reply........Thanks for reading my comment.

Probably time to consider an "eject" out of another AI training/Data mining/Customer data exploiting "racket".

    Regards

I'm not sure how many people saw twyn's post yesterday

    https://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/blog/blog.pl?/pl/2025/3/1742409980.html

But OP,  if you want to join in a discussion about it, have a look at this newish US thread which will grow in time.

It's advising members how to opt out, although  who knows if that's actually possible !

    these are member-to-member discussion boards.

"eBay" will not see your comments, ergo, will not reply.

    Cheers
