After trying to get to talk to someone I am trying here, so much wasted time with the automated AI help chat that keeps going in circles, where I can't get to talk to someone about this issue, there's simply no option for this type of issue. Brief history, multiple messages to this official AU Blackview seller over a faulty Mobile Phone. This started back in April 2025 after a purchase made 14Oct24 where the screen developed lines and a huge weird pixel box, it was hardly used and sat on my desk as I use another as the main mobile, yes, I bought 2 of them. They didn't have any of the same models in stock to replace at that time. The phone went unused. I went to their site by chance some months later with the phone still within the warranty and noticed stock of the phone had returned and started up contact with the seller again to get it resolved. I have a substantial Ebay message history with this seller. They offered several options. One I chose was I return the phone at my cost and they refund 70%. However, to add to this mess, the seller was asking for my personal information, account information and email address, when they already have access to this information from several orders I have placed with them. They asked me to take photos of the information they were asking for, why? I have this all in the message history. Asking for this information is illegal under the terms of the EBAY user agreement right? If they do this with me, does it happen with others? They have the returned phone, I paid for the return freight, and now they say they have no money to refund me, yet they are the Blackview Official Store in Australia. Very disappointed, I want to activate the EBAY buyer protection guarantee if possible and have this resolved, and not deal with them ever again. Thanks for reading.

OP9 months agoSeller says they don't have the money anyway.
Touche! They need the Paypal email address and Ebay won't allow any email addresses or images of email addresses in their messages. So how can I get it to them? Is there a way? I don't know how to do it.
I remember buying something off Ebay and the seller partially refunded somehow. Is that still a thing?

·9 months agoYes, it's still a thing.
But did your previous seller refund within 90 days ?
The following is JMO and others may not agree with me.
I'm sorry this has happened to you and I'm usually the first to call out shonky Chinese sellers.
In this case, I don't believe the seller is a shonky backyard seller of Chinese junk.
Bview are huge sellers everywhere.
They asked for all your details to refund you - you refused to give them citing
"Asking for this information is illegal under the terms of the EBAY user agreement right"
I believe the seller would have refunded you .
You could try contacting them again requesting their help and if they agreed, you may be able to send a disguised email address.
If it was me and they were willing to assist me but you're not able to give important details through eBay, I'd ask if I could contact them through their own website.
Again JMO

OP9 months agoThanks again, I have nothing against Blackview, in fact I left a glowing review of the phones along with their quick service and packaging, and it's only this one product and the messy way to try and get it resolved that Ebay has a problem with, aka trying to get my Paypal email to them. I have been quite amicable with the seller and give them time to get the money together.
"They asked for all your details to refund you - you refused to give them citing" Not right, I wasn't aware that such things were a violation of terms and conditions and actually did what they asked of me. It was only after trying what they said to do and Ebay throwing a message up after multiple different attempts to do what the seller wanted, that I found out it was not allowed. BUT.... how are warranties over extended terms like their 2 years handled? Are the sellers that restricted, they can't get a refund to one of their customers because some others tried selling and buying outside their system? I didn't even realise the seller doesn't have a record of my Paypal email. I obviously don't know how the platform works for a seller. My bad.

My apologies.
After reading this,
"To add to this mess, the seller was asking for my personal information, account information and email address, when they already have access to this information from several orders I have placed with them.

it gives the impression you didn't give your details to the seller!
Sellers don't have your payment / paypal details.
Under managed payments, buyers pay eBay and eBay pays the seller.
With reputable large eBay businesses, warranty details are often enclosed in a parcel or sent seperately to the buyer.
Just like large retailers, they'll generally have their own manufacturer/ servicing / repairs businesses which they use for items under warranty.

·9 months agoHammering it home re warranty…
A seller can unfortunately say whatever they like in their listing. 12 month warranty, 2 year warranty, five year warranty, lifetime warranty… it’s as real as the Tooth Fairy, as substantial as a hummingbird’s flatus, as enforceable as words written on sand just before the tide washes them away.
It’s something eBay could police… but they don’t.
For consumer guarantees under ACL to apply, buy from Australian businesses. Ditto for product warranties - buy from Australian businesses.
A genuine and well-regarded overseas business may well offer warranties but they won’t be enforceable under ACL and may not even apply to Australian consumers. You would be relying on the seller to remedy an issue voluntarily. Chinese eBay sellers will not do so. They won’t. It’s a sales lure. They know you can’t enforce a smudge on the wind.

·9 months agoSorry but you are long, long out of time to do anything via eBay
So there is zero point in talking to eBay
The time limit for an item not as described under The eBay Money Back Guarantee is 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date
In future, don't risk buying such things from sellers registered in China as there is zero warranty (they are not registered in Australia)

OP9 months agoThanks for reply.
They state they are Blackview-Official-Store AU so how are buyers supposed to know they are not registered here? The product ships from Sydney so there's no reason to think otherwise is there? They do have a warranty for products or is it just words to appease the buyer? Are we expected to read every site's about page?
This in their about page:
Warranty
In the case of non-man-made damage, we provide a 2-year warranty.

·9 months agoIt says on their page where they are registered
Every buyer *should* check feedback as a first step before buying, if they care about what they are buying and who they are buying from
But it takes a few seconds to look at the seller's feedback, which clearly shows registered in China
And yes, if the seller is not an authorised seller and registered in Australia then warranty is indeed just a word on the screen
There's no point people here saying differently

·9 months agoYou had 30 days to activate MBG, yet you chose to deal with seller direct.
How did you pay?
gredwa
OP9 months agoPaid via Paypal.
Sorry, but the fault occurred well after the 30 days so I was being amicable to find solution as they have a 12 month warranty, stated by the seller. They have the phone.
padi*0409
·9 months agoYou're way out of time for either the MBG or a Paypal/bank chargeback.
There is no warranty because the seller is registered in China.
