·6 months ago"Here we go again - another selling account on the downward spiral which should have been stopped by eBay!
Feedback mentions “ebay refunded” so eBay are fully aware there’s an ongoing problem and have done nothing about the 1600 items still listed.
eBay happy to leave the account registered and 1600 items still listed"
..................................................................................................................................................................................................
And as predicted, the seller's account now has 199 negs, 21.6% feedback and currently, 48,000 items listed
Most of this could have been prevented as it was reported well before the OP posted the thread and many, many times since.
eBay refunds are mentioned throughout feedback along with feedback of "Why hasn't eBay shut down this account?
Why indeed !
What an absolute disgrace.

·6 months agoIt beggars belief that ebay does not seem to have some sort of system in place to monitor feedback %.
If my bank can contact me pretty much immediately if its computer system notices one withdrawal that breaks the usual pattern, ebay should be able to pick up on when a seller account shows a sudden change. Maybe a dramatic change in numbers/price/location of items listed or a sudden or consistent downward spiral in feedback ranking.
It is absolutely disgraceful that any account (with a fair few sales) can actually be operating with 21% rating. And 48,000 items listed!
Ebay is letting its lust for commission to override any common sense.

·9 months agoSo much of the following could be prevented if eBay acted on reports and tried to make eBay a safe place to trade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sad part is that often negative feedback appears after numerous reports to eBay showing a pattern change of selling or scam, or a new pattern of selling scam, reports are ignored.
Something’s changed in the last 6 months with the seller related to this thread as all of a sudden, no items are being sent at all.
Feedback mentions “ebay refunded” so eBay are fully aware there’s an ongoing problem and have done nothing about the 1600 items still listed.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread
https://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Buying/Am-I-being-scammed-Seller-sent-cheap-item-and-is-now-desperate/td-p/2633264
I now know that the fake tracking scam was reported well before the OP posted the thread.
All the items remained listed until sold, 280 odd items sold, and I can almost guarantee that a couple of the earlier positive feedback is fake
There was no negative feedback at the time, the OP was the first to leave negative feedback and look at it now EG:
“$1400 - I have contacted eBay multiple times, and escalated to their supervisor, they told me the there are no supervisor, and I need to return the item in order to get refund. Do not use this platform in the future”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Genuine members sometimes report that they’re unable to change their country of registration yet I have a list of 30 Australian IDs ( there will be more) hijacked by scammers who have changed the country of registration to Brazil.
All reported – nothing done !
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hundreds of thousands of items were listed by Chinese scammers who hijacked Italian sellers’ accounts and posted (or not) items from AliExpress.
All the feedback changed from Italian to English so very obvious.
All reported – nothing done !

·9 months agoI wonder if ebay will ever be held accountable or told that any reasonable business would or should have been able to see some of the problem sellers and put a stop to them way earlier.
We often tend to say to people to use the ebay functions to decide who to buy off and not to keep bad sellers in business, but it sounds as if ebay isn't doing its part to get those bad sellers off their site.
You've done amazing investigative work & it's a pity ebay has not taken note of any of it.
I think it is only a matter of time until someone goes to one of those current affair type shows to complain about being swindled out of a fairly expensive purchase.

·9 months agoHere we go again - another selling account on the downward spiral which should have been stopped by eBay!
Typical Australian registered Chinese dropshipping seller account, 35K items sold, registered since 2021,
mixed feedback but plenty of positive feedback until the last 6 months.
Something's changed with Items not being sent at all and eBay is fully aware, as evidenced in the feedback.
eBay happy to leave the account registered and 1600 items still listed.
We all know buyers should read feedback and they may receive a refund from eBay, but plenty of them will leave eBay, which affects all sellers.

·9 months agoAgree with you 100%.
It is probably high time for ebay to monitor % feedback (in relation though to number of items sold) and pull up regular sellers whose % is under 80% or put a stop to them selling altogether for a while.
I think a big part of the problem is many buyers never look at feedback or if they do, they only see the 'new view' that shows the last 5 or so comments, which may well all be positive if it is a big seller.
Until they look in the classic view or further, they may never see the negatives.
Plus, many, many buyers are not sure how to open a claim or even if they do know, if a purchase was only a few dollars, they cannot be bothered going to the trouble to investigate and find out. I know that's on them, but ebay would be so much better off weeding out some of the problems beforehand.
We can mention reading feedback till the cows come home but overall, buyer behaviour isn't going to change & we shouldn't always be blaming the victims for the crimes.
If every regular on here knows that 77% feedback is very low for a big volume seller, then it should not be beyond ebay's ability either. They need to take on more responsibility.
I don't think they care as such as it is all fees and they feel it is covered by their money back guarantee.
Short sighted.
I've been on ebay for years and I think it is a great site, especially for those second hand type items you may not find elsewhere, or not easily. But I have to admit, I think Amazon is a more consistently reliable site for buyers. Maybe not always the best price, but always reliable, safer for customers.

·9 months agoYou have probably lost your money unless you paid by paypal.
With ebay, if an item does not arrive by the expected delivery date, you can open an ebay claim to get a refund. You don't need to askt he seller. You only have 30 days though.
So you're out of time to open an ebay claim and the seller knows that, which is why they are ignoring you.
If you paid with paypal though, you have longer, 180 days, if your item has not arrived. Again, you don't need to ask a seller if you cna open a claim, you just open it and stay on it till you get the refund.
You don't accept offers of another item etc as some sellers will promise anything to get you to shut the claim. Once shut, you can't reopen it.
I cannot see details of what you bought but sandy mentioned the seller had a feedback of about 77%. That is astonishingly low. Always read feedback, especially the negatives. Unless their feedback is up around the 99% mark, it is often not worth the risk to buy from them. You really need to read the feedback first to make the call.

·9 months agoIs there a reason you failed to open a dispute within the time limit ?
All you needed to do
Other members cannot help you if you choose not to use the tools you are given to get your money back
The seller has 77.2% feedback
Why on earth would you choose to buy from such a scammer at all?
