Please remember to open a case no matter you are buying a new or pre-owned item a week after the purchase because ebay would refuse to review any case after the 30 days refund window. Some dodgy sellers know how to play around the estimated delivery dates( item delayed, item lost in transit, item returned to seller etc) and you will easily missed the last claim date. We buyers ended up out of pocket .
REMEMBER!!!! If you paid by paypal, you are likely to get a refund withing 180days after purchase, but ebay would never tell you about that.
I recently bought a brand name shirt sealed in a transparent plastic bag to give out as birthday present in 3 weeks time , but the logo and tag are different to the pictures when opened. The seller put up the genuine shirt photos but gave counterfeit instead. Ebay rejected my claim as it was a few days over 30 days from est delivery date provided by the seller. Funny thing is both ebay and seller were unable to show proof of the actual delivered date because it was an untracked item, and I was rejected a refund because ebay said they guessed the estimate delivery themselves. This is so ridiculous and unfair!!!!
I cancelled my ebay plus straight away because it comes to my realization that I am not being protected by ebay after 17 years with them, a platform full of scammers who received no consequences except negative feedback. It is sad to see ebay is in a decline state while other competitor catches up and do so much better in price and customer service like "TxxU" which sells the same item half and even one third of the price of ebay, 60 days refund period , refund you in a tic, and their customer service chat(with real person) is 7/24, no fuss, no mess around, thumbs up!!

Yes, there is only a 30 day window after the estimated delivery date. I actually like it that ebay has set a date range as it gives customers a very clear window in which to expect their goods to arrive. And if they are not delivered by then, the buyer is in the clear to open an ebay claim.
I would never say a buyer has to open the claim a week after purchase, it depends on circumstances.
I usually allow for an item to run maybe a few days late but for sure, if something did not arrive I would certainly open a claim well before the 30 days expired.
You are right, never let a seller try to persuade you to wait longer or accept a replacement etc as that blows out the time and you'll miss the chance.
Paypal is great, it does give you longer.
You've brought up one important thing and that is-with any shop or online store, not just ebay-you need to check out the goods soon after receiving them. Sometimes it is disappointing as it means breaking that transparent bag. I felt the same way a while back when I had to open a little box of earrings. Shame to break into the packaging as it was a gift. My item was perfect & I thought it would be, but you have to check.
If ever you have something like this happen to you again, open an ebay claim immediately but never say the item is counterfeit, just say it is not matching the description in the ad, logo and tag were different.
That way you'll get your refund. You can't always provide proof an item is counterfeit (ebay won't just take your word for it although you would probably be right), but you can show if eg the tag and logo don't match.
The seller would then have to refund you in full.

3) This can and does happen over many categories so buyers do need to be very careful when choosing their sellers

The time limit for the MBG is 30 days and no more
Very very clear
Buyers do not need to play along with the seller
The seller does not get a say
Open the case with the time limit
Not a few days after
Before it passes
The estimated delivery date (a guess) is shown on every item prior to purchase, so there is no need to make another guess beyond that
Nor how a shirt could have been sent 'untracked'
As a buyer you are 100% protected, within the time limit
How long you have been a member does not give you special treatment above and beyond that
And if after 17 years, you do not know the policy, nor have looked at it by now, I am not sure why you expect anyone else to take notice of your post if they fail to take notice of the black and white policy that is far from new
You also fail to mention that once a buyer has opened a PayPal dispute, they cannot then open and eBay dispute
And a buyer cannot open both at the same time
Please, if you are going to complain that you did not open a dispute within the time limit, and then ebay did not cover you, then at least mention very important points when it comes to disputes
eBay is all about the buyer

·1 year agoWhy should Ebay tell you about Paypal policy, they have no control over them.
As for the rest of the rant, if you cant manage to lodge a claim within the 30 days, its not Ebays fault, like you say you have being a member for 17 years, maybe its time to read the policies.
