A bad situation with a seller and an even worse response and dealing with eBay.

Summary: The discussion centers around a problematic experience with a seller on eBay and the challenging response from eBay itself. merlin6319526 initiates the conversation by sharing their negative experience, prompting others, such as repentatleisure1952 and sandypebbles, to express similar concerns or provide input about handling such situations. springyzone and twyngwyn also engage in the conversation, potentially sharing their own experiences or advice. The discussion underscores common frustrations encountered when resolving disputes on platforms like eBay.

It's been a nightmare dealing with the eBay team, over a seller. eBay have been less than helpful, even speaking with them multiple times. They treat you like a dog chasing its tail, so you get nowhere. You just get passed from one to another, and No One solves the problem. The emails for my complaint were not replied to truthfully and then I've been ignored by the seller. No resolution has been initiated from eBay, and No One wants to deal with the issue. In all their customer service, protection is next to worthless. After months now, nothing has been done and doesn't look like being resolved. In all a complete dissatisfactory non-outcome. If rating them from 0 to 10, they would get a minus number from me. Not good business practice or service. A complete waste of time and loss of money, even though eBay have said the seller is responsible for the refund. No refund, no service and no support whatsoever. Disgusted with the whole situation and the way being treated.

if it is about the missing 'whisks' you left f/b for:  they said to return the item going through eBay.

Did you go through eBay or just do your 'own thing'?

I don't think that is actually what the seller said, if it is the same one I am reading.

It said they had sent the buyer emails and they needed to receive the whole set back & then they would have sent a replacement plus given a refund.

It sounded to me as if they were expecting the buyer to post the items back privately at their (the buyer's) expense.

That's not the correct procedure as they would well know.

They are trying to make themselves look good to other buyers who see the feedback but the reality is they did nothing.

We have sent you emails as yet all we can do is wait for your reply. We need to get the entire order back then we could have sent you a new set. We dont have spare parts, but would have gladly given you a new set when your return came to us and a refund on top.

    Okay, just for the future.

Never bother messaging ebay about anything.

All you'll get is an auto reply, not from a human.

I tried it in the past and was left frustrated and wondering-Did they even read my message? The reply I had received never even addressed my issue.

The answer is nope, no one reads them. I found that out years ago after coming to this forum. It's all automated and bot driven.

You'll do better going through the help page and getting onto chat but even with that, you're with a robot for a while till you'll be passed over to a real human if you say the problem is still not solved. But even that isn't foolproof, as you have discovered.

Ebay is almost completely automated so you have to make the automation work for you. It's the quickest way.

So if you have a problem like  you had, with parts missing, don't even bother contacting the seller, go straight into a proper ebay claim. You can open it yourself, automatically, no need to be in communication with ebay chat or the seller.

In a case like this, you would need to open it on the basis your item was not as described. Don't say not received as you did receive a package & if a seller can prove that, with tracking details, you'd lose your claim.

Only open a claim for not received if you actually received nothing.

So you open a claim for not as described etc and carry through with it. It is a fairly automated process so the seller would be forced to issue you a return postage label, at their expense. You don't pay return postage.

Then they have to refund you.

Never agree to the seller sending parts as you only get 30 days from arrival in which to open a claim and if you sit around waiting, you could run out of time.

If you had contacted the seller and the seller had offered a partial refund and you had agreed, that would be okay, except you'd need to receive that refund within 48 hours (in my opinion) and if not instantly forthcoming, just go straight into a proper ebay claim. Never let these sellers mess with you and delay you.

I am not impressed with the seller's response to your negative feedback. they say they have no spare parts and would have sent you a replacement plus given a refund on top if you had sent the set back.  However, there was nothing stopping them from giving you a refund after you contacted them so I call BS on that.

Did they even supply you with a postage label to send it back when you contacted them privately?

They know very well what the correct procedure in ebay is & it isn't getting the item back and providing a replacement plus a refund.

Did you pay with paypal? If so, go straight into your account and open a claim with them as they have a 180 day window in which to open a claim.

To add, nothing in your neg feedback shows you followed the procedure to get your money back

Had you done so, there would have been no issue whatsoever

Open and shut item not as described case

You wasted your own time and money by failing to follow the proper process, and then expected you would be covered anyway

eBay is all about the buyer

You hair all the tools to deal with almost every problem, with no need to contact eBay at all

If you want advice from other members, you need to give us the gist of what happened

ebay are not going to read your feedback on them on the member to member forum

Not sure who or why you were emailing, and opening a dispute does not require a seller’s reply

If it was for the long neg you left, all you needed to do was open and follow through with an item not as described dispute and problem solved, nothing else required

Do you check seller feedback before you buy?

Have you read the buying basics?

If you provided eBay with as little information as you have done here I'm not surprised you have had no resolution.

How about coming back to explain what happened even if after "months" you have left it too late with eBay.

There are other methods to receive a refund.

BTW have you at any time read this?...

    https://www.ebay.com.au/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210&st=3&pos=3&query=eBay%20Money%20Back%20Guarantee%20policy&intent=money&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1238

It's almost impossible to lose money as a buyer unless you commit pilot error.
