Are sellers allowed to change the price of an item ie: increase when you select buy it now?
Trying to buy some children's art frames and the price quoted is AU $4.95 but when you select the colour of the frame price jumps to AU $ 35.99. Is this allowed.?

·3 years agoUnfortunately, yes. The item will have been listed as a listing with variations, and properly used, such listings allow some price variation appropriate to the colour, size, etc.
Of course it shouldn’t be used to offer rather different items in the same listing, with huge price differences, or with the lowest priced item in the variation being permanently out of stock so that the listing is - to all intent and purposes - a lure or bait-and-switch… but if the seller is (for instance) registered in China, then even if you report the misuse of listing with variations, it won’t result in any action being taken. eBay.com.au staff have zero authority or power to take action against eBay.cn sellers. (And eBay.cn has different rules…)
So… in the abstract, listing with variations (with price differences) is allowed.
Never having the “lure price” available is a misuse of this type of listing.
Making a complaint about it if the seller’s country of registration is e.g. China is highly unlikely to result in any action against the seller.

·3 years agoAre you saying that it is a multi listing with a drop down menu to select an item and a colour, and different colours are different prices?
(Is the $4.95 price actually for a frame, or something else ?)
If so, yes, eBay allow it
What is the seller's feedback like and where are they registered?

OP3 years agoI am assuming for the frame as nothing else is stated. Seller feedback is 97% but not sure where they are registered.
