Be careful -1 bought a wireless keyboard and mouse and 3 months later doesn’t work got a person to check it out and told mouse faulty when requested for a replacement seller advise I need to pay for a return………bodgy seller
was told past 30 day return on eBay so tough luck

·1 year agoYou are lucky that you probably didn't pay much for the wireless keyboard and mouse. I purchased a colour laser printer on eBay during Covid when I couldn't find any in stores. It stopped working eight months later and the seller refused to help me and told me I had to go through the manufacturer which was untrue but I was left with no choice but to do so. He was convinced that one of the toner cartridges had run out but the screen was blank and the printer was unusable. Someone came out to fix it, but I couldn't get wireless printing to work. I contacted the manufacturer and someone treated me like I was a twit but he was skipping steps. It turned out that the person had to return to fix the wireless printing but I wasn't advised of this. I was so cheesed off about this. I should have received a brand new printer because it was a major fault. It was too late to leave negative feedback though. All I could do was to report the seller to the ACCC and have advised other people to do so as well.

Meaning the seller has to be an authorised seller/re seller for the brand and registered in Australia

·1 year agoYour tale is the exact reason it is better to go through a proper store or an authorised seller, where possible.
Some of the random sellers on ebay will promise a warranty but you might as well try to get blood out of a stone.
To be honest with you, there are some items I just would not buy on ebay, or I would be extremely cautious who I bought from, put it that way.

·1 year agoIn my early days on Ebay, way back then, looking to make a better profit, I brought the cheapest of some small electronic items; remotes, power adapters, camera battery chargers ect, they stopped working properly after about three months. Taking them apart I found there was no gold plating.
These days I rarely buy anything, but if did I have a nice piece and am looking for a remote or adapter, I'd only buy the original branded item.

·1 year agoEbay 30 day return is aimed at goods that arrive broken. It isn't a warranty service at all.
At least this seller has offered to help you out. If you had bought from a real store, you could at least have gone in there in person & maybe saved the cost.
If you bought some items elswhere eg such as tupperware, and wanted to return a faulty item, you would also need to pay postage.

Be careful and be aware of the time limit
There is no special treatment
Everyone should know at least the basics of any site they use
Sellers, excellent or dodgy do not have to accept returns or give you a refund after you used the item for three months
But you know if the seller is dodgy or not because you check feedback before you buy

Have you read eBay’s MBG policy page? The link is here: https://www.ebay.com.au/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210
It clearly states the timeframes and T&Cs. You do realise that the MBG isn’t a product warranty? A money back guarantee is a money back guarantee - purely voluntary on eBay’s part and with clear terms and conditions. It covers you in the event of item not arriving, and item not as described upon arrival. It’s not intended for something going wrong later down the track.

1) an eBay seller registered on eBay Australia
2) an Australian business (with ABN), and

… if you’re buying on eBay.
