buyers with 0 purchases pushing up bids ??? runners or fake bids by sellers ???

Summary: The discussion revolves around concerns regarding buyers with no previous purchase history who are potentially driving up bid prices, leading to suspicions of either being runner-up bidders or fake bids orchestrated by sellers. Participants express skepticism about the authenticity of these bids and discuss the implications for sellers and genuine buyers in the market. Various authors contribute to the conversation by questioning the motives behind these actions, and the impact this behavior may have on fairness in bidding processes.

I don't think we can tell you for sure, even with the item number.

It could be new bidders just wasting everyone's time or it could possibly be shill bidding but I don't imagine that would be all that easy to do. The seller would not be able to create multiple accounts at their own home on the same device as I think ebay could track that if they were alerted to a possible problem.

I'm no expert with internet details but I think that is the case, anyway.

But sure, sellers could maybe have friends put in a bid but there is a risk then of losing the real bidder(s).

My advice though would be this: If you at all suspect there may be a shill bidder at work, drop out. Drop out completely. Immediately. Consider cancelling your bid.

And you can report an ad to ebay if you strongly suspect a problem.

Laptops  aren not a rare item. Don't fret about missing out and I agree with Domino, you may be better off purchasing elsewhere anyway.

Perhaps they've done you a favour - I'd not consider buying a laptop on eBay.

So you missed out on having the winning bid and decide it *must* mean the seller is involved in shill bidding

eBay Help is at the top of every page

And no, shill bidding is not allowed

No good telling other members eBay has to clean it up

They will be able to see if it real is shill bidding, and not just your opinion

    Contact eBay and show them

Put up the listing number, so far you have not shown that there is anything untoward,
