having been a ebay buyer for over 20 years the last couple of years has been nothing but trouble some,
having brought and promptly paid for items alot of the time this happens
sellers do not reply to messages
sellers will not let you know if items been sent
sellers will not provide tracking numbers
sellers selling items that they have no stock of
having to wait weeks to get a refund through ebay
you buy from a seller as listing says australian seller so you will get the item quickly, then after waiting weeks find out seller is really in china, its false advertising and ebay allows this to happen
i really am fedup buying on ebay as many sellers are doing what i have listed above, you just dont know when or if you will recieve the item you have paid for
ebay states buyer protection but thats not the point, its just becoming a headache buying from sellers that should have been kicked off ebay long-ago.
ebay allows these sellers to take your money and stuff you around all the time
ebay was never like this years ago, you always knew and trusted ebay sellers
not anymore , the standard of sellers is terrible as is the buying experience,
and ebay allows it,
well i will not bother buying much anymore, i am so sick of it all and the worry , no stock, no tracking, no item, well no more ebay for me either

Don’t keep buying from Chinese sellers, then. Buy from reputable Australian sellers. Isn’t that a simple solution?
Furthermore, the eBay MBG is as straightforward as it gets. Item doesn’t arrive by EDD? Open a refund request and escalate if seller doesn’t refund within 3 business days.
As long as Australian buyers continue to think that buying unbranded or fake gimcrack items from China is just as safe or good quality as items made to Australian standards under contract to Australian brands, the stealing of IP will continue… genuine items will be eschewed in favour of tat, and Chinese eBay or Alibaba or Temu or Shein sellers will laugh with glee as they despatch their “fool the westerners” rubbish to Australian shores.
If you’re paying considerably less than RRP (and it’s not a special sale such as Black Friday), you’re almost certainly buying something not to spec, unsafe, dodgy. Buy dodgy, get dodgy - or caveat emptor, in other words.
DISCLOSURE: I’m a buyer, not a seller.

·1 year agoAgreed, the while ebay experiencxe IS NOT what it used to be, buying orders are cancelled within days, means you dont have a chance to use dodgy ebay plus offers, as you cant get enough items into the cart in time...
And as for selling gave up once ebay DELETED all the saved information I had of my 1000's of listings, that was the last straw,,,they took away month and months of work...
Instead they allow dodgy sellers that list mulpiple items in one listing with prices that cant be searched properly..
NOPE thats me done, and everyone you talk to is the same these days

·1 year agoPeople rightly blame seller but ebay controls the platform and has responsibility for seller behavior.
Sellers are playing the system by knowingly sending the wrong item from china and then acting dumb.
The seller only needs to keep making offers to buyer to keep from leaving negative, even though the buyer has been robbed of money and not received what they purchased.
The sellers claim that their item has value, but it has no value for buyer not wanting and has cost in time and money.
The buyers money is tied up with unwanted item and they still need to buy what they originally wanted.
The cost and time is at least double or greater just to get what they purchased.
If this happened once a year perhaps you accept, but it keeps happening on regular basis.
The solution is to find direct sellers of items through other platforms.
I tried to explain problems to ebay, they just don't care.
The sellers stack this forum with smart comments.
People who loss money think differently for good reason!

·1 year agoThe solution is to read the eBay buying basics and stop spamming the forum with false information
You chose the seller, you chose not to open a dispute
You spent days here earlier this year posting the same thing over and over again and ignored all the members who told you what you needed to do and even provided you with links on how to do it
Why are you now posting all this nonsense and false information?
Buyers in this position need to open and follow through with a dispute, end of story
Your comments simply support dodgy sellers and try to convince buyers they don’t have choices
Buyers have ALL the power

·1 year agoThis is the buyer forum. I am a buyer, haven't sold in years.
A lot of the points you make are quite true, they happen.
You talk about ebay controlling the platform. To me, where they are going wrong is that when someone has a problem, ebay advises them to try to sort it out with the seller first.
It would be better to streamline the whole thing. Any problem, only one way to proceed, through an ebay claim. With no penalty to sellers who fix the problem within the time limit.
Not encouraging private negotiation. With reputable sellers it might work but with some sellers, as you say, buyers get strung along.
The main problem though is with buyers, they don't know their rights and often they don't know what to do if something goes wrong. The information is there, it is on the help pages.
If buyers read up the guideliens when they strike a problem, then they would know to open an ebay claim & not mess around.
Ebay doesn't make it easy, at a glance, to see where sellers are located. Not the items, the sellers.
Personally, I avoid buying from sellers from China if I can. You can still strike trouble with sellers in Australia but it is easier to deal with.
If you check out your sellers and their feedback carefully before you buy, and buy from Australia, you shouldn't strike so many problems.
And yes, there's a lot of online choice these days. Ebay is just one of them.
