Dear eBay I will not be PAYING for a postage label to ship items
Summary: The discussion revolves around frustrations with eBay's policy requiring sellers to use their shipping labels, which some participants see as restrictive and akin to extortion. fantastic1666 expresses strong disapproval, arguing that it limits their ability to set postage rates and potentially profits. lezned-toycollector counters by stating that sellers have the choice to comply with these policies and that failure to do so leads to repercussions like being moved to a Pro subscription. The debate highlights differing perspectives on eBay's policy and its implications for sellers.
I saw your changes from 1st June. Trying to force me to pay and go to the library to print the thing is insane and if you go though with this I will close my 20 year old account and go to Gumtree.
Sincerely
anyone with any sense.

·1 month agoYou don’t though
You agreed to it
You still have stuff listed
You spent literally hours spamming the forum with your ranting and raving and rubbish
You agreed to be on free selling, you agreed to use the eBay labels, your choice
You can move to another plan or get rid of your stuff elsewhere
Nobody from eBay is going to read a single one of your posts, they are not going to contact you and offer you anything else

·5 months agoThis is just an aside.
If you do decide to leave ebay, I'd suggest Marketplace or dedicated facebook sites for particular products.
Gumtree is a wasteland, unfortunately. I don't know of anyone who uses it. I guess some people must, but marketplace is where a lot more of the action is.

·5 months agoActually, springy, I sell a lot of things on the tree. More than on ebay, in fact.
The problem with Mp is that you have to limit how many items you list; if you do too many, they accuse you of being a bot and close your account. And of course there are no humans to speak to to fix it.
springyzone
·5 months agoThat's really interesting.
I guess then proudnerd might do well to list on MP plus gumtree.
I listed something months ago on gumtree (MP for some reason banned my ad because it said it must be counterfeit, it was just a boxed set of men's Tommy Hilfiger pj's, so no idea what their reasoning was). Gumtree allowed the ad but I don't know if it even got a look.
I find a lot of the young ones (ie anyone under 45 to me😁) tend to be on MP.
pnc75
·5 months agoMp would've banned your ad because it's a well known label. I've had Nike ads banned too, even the items are genuine. I believe the way around it is to say 'branded' in the title then take a photo of the logo. Personally, I couldn't be bothered.
springyzone
·5 months agoI was bewildered as there were other Tommy Hilfiger items named as such and on MP for sale. They were not new though, that was the only difference. I tried taking out all reference to brand in the ad, just left in the photos, and it was still banned!

·5 months agoYep, it's pretty much a law unto itself there.
springyzone
·5 months agoAbsolutely!
Story had a happy ending though. I had bought the boxed set for a son in law for Xmas at $39.95 (supposedly on sale) and then daughter said oh he never wears pj's, just T shirts & boxers or trackies, so I eventually listed them at $10 in GT just to clear them. When I told her of my dramas she said she would take them home and see what he said. This was well after Xmas, I might add. He loved them, said he didn't realise how soft and comfortable they could be as he had never had any. She ended up having to go out and buy him more!😂

You're talking about the new Free Selling plan.
If you have a look at the information in my link under Compare Plans, many sellers are going to choose a Pro Starter plan , where eBay labels don't have to be purchased.

Whatever changes eBay have advised are happening
Nobody is being forced to do anything (as in eBay cannot force any seller to keep selling)
Sell wherever you wish
eBay are not going to know or care who leaves or stays

OP5 months agoExcellent work just rolling over and taking it. If this comes to pass I'm gone.
As for the "not forcing", they are. If you read it it says you will be required to buy a label to post things.

·5 months agoSee ya
I have real world issues I have to deal with
And I don't find the need to throw a tantrum over postage labels when the world is going to heck in a handbasket
And again, no, they are not forcing anyone to keep selling
If you don't want to buy postage labels, don't
Selling on eBay is not mandatory
It will indeed 'come to pass'
And again, eBay have no idea if you will be gone or not
I care and spend my energy on things that matter

OP5 months agoThanks for the completely irreverent post, that attempts to use unrelated issues to minimize this one. If you don't care don't post. Toodles.

·5 months agoNo, they are not.
You can try to put your own twist on things to suit your own narrative, but at the end of the day every seller has the option of how they purchase their postage labels.
The seller is 100% in control of whichever option they personally choose, and eBay has no input whatsoever into said choice... as in naught, nil, zero, zilch, nada, sweet FA.
If you don't want to purchase eBay labels, then don't. It's as simple as that.
If you feel the need to close your account because you can't trust yourself to not purchase an eBay label, there's really no point in chucking a hissy-fit over it. It won't achieve anything.
For your personal reference (because you obviously haven't read the information eBay has already provided you)... there is no need to print labels at your library. In fact, there is no need for sellers to print shipping labels at all. Doing so is again, their own personal choice. A seller need only present the QR code upon lodgement of the article at an AP outlet, and the staff there will print the postage label.
Trying to manufacture issues that don't actually exist will get you nowhere.
Good luck with your future endeavours 😊

·1 month ago · EditedIncorrect. They will put you on a Pro subscription if you don't use shipping labels. That is if you keep on sending items without the shipping label its against their member to member messaging policy. And you can't see the full address because they hide it from you unless you pay for a shipping label.
That is extortion. Its akin to having a gun pointed at your head threatening to kill you "unless you use this payment method."
Who's dumb idea was it to introduce this bullshit?
And then they threaten you if you choose not to use it. They'll charge you a final value fee of 13.4%. Which is even more ridiculous than forcing you to use shipping labels. I don't want to use them. And I DO NOT CONSENT to being charged 13.4% final value fee.

·1 month agoYou seem to have a rather severe comprehension problem. There is a massive difference between choosing which selling option you use (which was being discussed), and being placed on a Pro subscription due to consistent policy breaches - which by the way is the product of the seller's personal choices anyway.
The selling options along with any qualifying requirements are laid out for all sellers in very simple terms. It is then up to the seller to choose whichever option they feel best suits their needs.
Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything. The seller is choosing the option for themselves - which is an application of free choice.
Spamming the forums won't get eBay to change their policies, and showing everyone that you have little understanding of the site policies does you no favours.
At the end of the day, if you don't agree with eBay policies, your only remaining option is to refrain from listing anything. It really is that simple.
However, if you just keep choosing to breach eBay policy, it's only a matter of time before you experience the consequences.

·1 month ago · EditedThat's exactly what eBay did. They manufactured this issue of forcing people to use shipping labels. I can print them myself for free. Why are they forcing people to pay for essentially a piece of paper? I'm NEVER going to do that. Its ridiculous and they need to rethink this. Because if they don't just watch how many people leave. And it makes it easier for scammers. Do you know how easy it is to create QR codes?
lezned-toycollector
·1 month agoIf a seller chooses to use an eBay label, that's their choice - and theirs alone.
Why are you having so much difficulty comprehending that you, yourself, have made that choice?
Nobody forced you to choose the only selling option that has a requirement of using eBay labels. That was entirely your choice.
Refusing to abide by the very policy that you personally agreed to, will not end well for you.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

·1 month ago · EditedSo you create fraudulent postage labels and fraudulently fail to pay for postage, your customers must be really peesed when AP demand payment before an item will be released.
Or do you just fail to comprehend that an ebay label is a paid postage label for delivery via Australia Post. The labels specifically state postage paid, so you are not paying for a piece of paper as you claim.
Just for you.
fantastic1666
·1 month ago · EditedHow is it a fraudulent postage label? I wrote the address of the buyer on there and sent it.
The reason I don't like the shipping labels is I can't set a flat rate to what I want. Up until the changes I've been setting the postage high enough so that whatever I pay at the post office is covered. For example I put say $30 as postage. At the post office I pay only $25. So I have covered the cost of the postage. I've pocketed the difference. With the shipping labels you can't do that. I don't like that. I WILL NOT BE DOING IT EVER.

You claimed to be printing shipping/postage labels for free, rather than paying for a piece of paper. If that is true, then it is fraud.
However it now seems you don't know the difference between an address label and a shipping/postage label.
Yes you can still charge a buyer a set price for postage, and then still purchase the label cheaper, as you are actually charging for postage and handling.
But as you have amended some of your postage charges, I am sure you are fully aware of this.
By the way its good to see your listings have gone, as you will not be drawing any attention to the forum comments that you now have showing on your ebay page, under about me. You might like to remove it before the relevant poster and the ebay forums become aware of it.
