eBay Harassment
I do not appreciate eBay's Harassment accusing me of not following "our Absive buyer policy" Is eBay suggesting that if a seller sells an item that isn't fit for a purpose, we should not exercise our right and request a refund?
I suggest eBay should vet their seller to determine if an item is fit for a purpose, especially a business seller.
The action of eBay is very disappointing.

·2 years agoYou have to be accurate when you open a case, or you will lose the case.
For example, if something is missing from a parcel it is not an INR case, but an INAD case.
The product has a brand (Rayhong). If you call it fake, it means it is a knock-off of that brand. It does not mean it does not do what it is supposed to do.
Additionally, if you complain that it is liquid and the title/description says it is liquid, eBay will think that you have not read the description.

OP2 years agoThe return reason used is Doesn't match description or photos.
In the comments is did use the word fake.

·2 years agoLets be upfront here,
We have a bad buyer, who loves to buy cheap product from sellers with low feedback scores. But at the same time is doing dodgy sales themselves.
They even go as far as leaving false positive feedback for buyers.
But wants to blame Ebay, rather than take on personal responsibility for their own bad decisions.
A bad buyer, will never admit their mistakes.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoI was told today, buyer can not leave negative feedback.
Why would there be a buyer mistake, it's not if the buyer did not pay for the item. Seller do not need to sell an item that is not profitable.
sugar249
·2 years agoWhat rubbish, buyers can leave negative feedback.
Sellers can't leave negative feedback. So you decided to give a buyer a green tick, with a negative comment, no logic there, but there is no logic in your whole arguement.

OP2 years agoI don't normally leave feedback.
When I was in the process of leave a negative feedback it prompted me to contact the seller so I was led to believe negative feedback isn't possible.
Not sure what am I making to suit myself.

·2 years agoI am always surprised when an ebay member who is selling does not leave feedback when buying. I consider leaving feedback a courtesy. I can understand why members who are only buyers don't leave feedback. However sellers are usually aware that having good feedback from their customers is a good thing and one way to encourage this is by example.
You are unhappy with a product, fair enough, leave a review on the product listing its inadequacies. When buying a product for the first time I recommend first checking online for reviews - a check of the Ray Hong brand product does have some unhappy customers in Asia.

You breached the policy, take your medicine and accept the warning from ebay is valid, and learn from it.

·2 years agoGP, I certainly hope the OP doesn't get any more problems with buying or selling on eBay, because their response to members answers here may well put members off from giving furthur help for them.
springyzone
·2 years agoThat doesn't mean you can't leave a negative.
Obviously, ebay would like the matter settled privately between you & the seller if that is possible. Sometimes if you do contact a seller with an explanation of a problem and maybe some photos to show damage to an item or whatever, they may refund you on the spot without you having to open an official ebay claim.
So that is why ebay is suggesting you contact the seller first.
But you don't actually have to, you can go ahead and leave your negative.
For some big volume sellers, ebay may not let you give a neg straight away, you may have to wait a week, I think it is. But after that, you can go ahead and leave a neg.
gutterpunkz05
·2 years agoHi springy, Yes they can leave FB, but as they have been deemed in breach of the abusive buyer policy, the seller is entitled to have any FB -/+ removed.
Yes, as a seller I have had +FB removed in the past

100,000 Qantas Points (Frequent Flyer)
Please provide your QFF membership number and surname for points transfer - points are transferred digitally
Points will be transferred upon confirmation of successful payment
Selling your Qantas points is not without risk. As mentioned above, Qantas forbids their sale. While selling points is not illegal, if Qantas finds out they could suspend or cancel your Frequent Flyer account. You could lose all your points and your ability to earn points in the future.

Plus a huge Gray market, where people get scammed, not assuming OP does, but anyone doing it is playing the game.

eBay are free to remove all relevant listings.

Bit of double standard though you expect Ebay to Vet other sellers, while you break T&C's yourself. Interesting

·2 years agoPlus, the OP needs to realise that they are basically worthless at the moment. 5 years ago, X amount of points would get you a return first class ticket to London. At the moment, more points than that will get you a $700 coffee machine. That was posted on the news sites within the last 2 weeks.

sugar249

·2 years agoThe seller has very bad feedback.
That's what people have been saying here. If you don't want to be disappointed, look at the seller's feedback before buying.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoThat is my oversight.
The feedback isn't only related to the item I've purchased. eBay should consider in block such seller.
sandypebbles
·2 years agoeBay are not going to block sellers when buyers such as yourself are keeping them in business by supporting them over and over
Many of the sellers you choose to buy from are in China with poor feedback
Even the ones registered in Australia have poor feedback
It's not an 'oversight' when it happens time after time after time
It is a buyer not caring one iota who they buy from because they think it is not their responsibility
Guess what?
It 100% is
Please do follow through with your comment about stopping buying
One less person keeping dodgy sellers in business is great news
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoHow would you know what seller I do buy items from? Then why would eBay send me a warning if the buyer have such feedback.
It seems you are implying eBay will do anything for money.
gutterpunkz05

OP2 years agoThe most obvious is the hydrophobic property.
springyzone
·2 years agoPeople can click on your feedback score (the part where it says 144 ) and that shows feedback you have had from sellers & who those sellers were.
It may not show everything you have bought, depends on if the seller has given feedback or not, I suppose.
sandypebbles
·2 years agoNow you are just making up total nonsense
Where do I imply eBay will do anything for money?
You are the buyer you are giving dodgy sellers money when you choose to buy from them, and hence giving eBay their fees when you buy (since the seller pays fees on sales)
The feedback left for you by the dodgy sellers you buy from is public
As for 'how I know' what sellers you support
Anyone can see the feedback, who the seller is and where they are registered ,
All of that is on public display
People without an eBay account can see it, those living in the back of Timbuktu can see it
No idea where you get the 'Then why would eBay send me a warning if the buyer have such feedback'
Buyers can only be given positive feedback so what warning would be sent?
Stop blaming everyone else for your poor choices and twisting what people say to suit yourself
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoItem was paid and I expect the item does what it was advertised. You are the person who is twisting the fact.
I'm not the one who permits these seller to continue trading. I guess it's too much to expect seller to act in good faith.

·2 years agoHow do you propose Ebay do this, should they go and inspect every item before they are listed'.
I would be interesting in their judgement on your listing.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoWell as a seller I paid enough fees to eBay. It's about time they go and earned the fee it's paid.
sugar249
·2 years agoYou have no idea about the costs of running a platform such as this. And dealing with customers (buyers and sellers)
Imagine the fee they would have to charge to to personally vet every item you have listed.

OP2 years agoI'm have an idea, but not going to suggest it here. Unless they pay for to implement a process for it.
gutterpunkz05

·2 years agoThese are the reasons why eBay usually thinks a buyer is abusive:
https://www.ebay.com.au/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/abusive-buyer-policy?id=4374#:~:text=Our%20abusive%20buyer%20policy%20lays,programs%20or%20payment%20dispute%20processes.
Was it the last seller you left feedback for? That seller seems indeed to be a scammer, or maybe their account has been hacked. They have been getting neg fb since they joined. I would not buy from them in the first place.
sandypebbles
·2 years agoWould certainly make sense, if it is that seller in question then in choosing to buy from a seller with that many negs that said seller would report any and all complaints/ disputes they receive
But 'harassment' by definition would be more than a one off bot automated thing from eBay
Unless of course said seller is pretending to be someone from eBay who is behind it which could be likely also
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoI have not provided any feedback on the item.
gutterpunkz05
·2 years agoNot much point in you leaving FB, as you have been deemed to be in breach of the abusive buyer policy, the seller is protected against any FB you may leave.
springyzone
·2 years agoYes, you are perfectly entitled to ask for a refund or open an ebay claim if you've been sold a faulty product.
It sounds as if the seller reported you to ebay though over the actual message you sent.
What exactly did you say in the message?
I think ebay probably lumps quite a few things under the title abusive. It may not necessarily mean you swore or used bad language. Did you keep the message factual and only report the fault with your item or did you widen the discussion and maybe accuse the seller of trying to scam you or deliberately selling faulty products?
Did you suggest you would try to get the seller thrown off ebay or use emotive language eg disgusting, thief etc?
Have a think back & there must be something in your message that triggered ebay to send you the message they did.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoeBay did not specified of which item, the last item I have purchased, I did request of refund from eBay directly. There was no communication with the seller.
springyzone
·2 years agoOkay, in your request to ebay for a refund, I think you may have had to write the reason why you believed a refund was in order. I think the seller does get to see that request as they get a few days in which to reply & try to solve the problem.
Can you recall exactly what you said in the claim?
There must be something that the seller found offensive and reported to ebay.
If you just said the item was not fit for purpose or you believed it to be non genuine, I don't think ebay would send that message.
Did you accuse the seller of being a scammer and trying to pass off fakes, or something like that?
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoThe item I'm seeking a refund is ceramic coating the "this is a fake product, it's not a ceramic coating as advised, it is an unknown liquid with unknown effect".
Word for word.
springyzone
·2 years agoI give up then as I would not have thought that was abusive. All I can think of is the seller may have taken offence at the word fake and reported the message. But if it is not a ceramic coating as advertised I would think you should still be entitled to a refund.
gutterpunkz05
·2 years agoHi Springy, the abusive buyer policy, is not restricted to abusive language. It also includes abuse of the MBG policy and abuse of the returns policy. As such the breach does not have to be restricted to a single claim, ebay keep track of claims, and a breach can be advised due to excessive claims. From memory for ebay plus members, claims records are checked automatically, to ensure against excessive claims. So a sellers report is not always required.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoSo I guess, I should stop buying from eBay. It is general knowledge the more a person buy the more things can go wrong.
gutterpunkz05
·2 years agoNot harassment (unless you are being bombarded with repeat messages).
Looks like you fell foul of the abusive buyer policy, no one here knows for what reason, false claims, excessive claims etc.
Not much point whining, all covered by T&C's, Policies, that you agreed to, and does not detract from your consumer rights, if any.
Out of curiosity, who certified the item was fake
countessalmirena
·2 years agoIt is scarcely “harassment” for eBay to follow its own policies in dealing with behaviour they have deemed abusive under the relevant policy.
I don’t want to be accusatory or make you feel as though you need to defend yourself; I’m saying this purely on the basis of knowing how relatively rare it is for a buyer to be chastised by eBay. You must have done more than simply “request a refund”. Many buyers have requested refunds when necessary and appropriate. If a seller offers full refund on return of item, and provided the means of returning the item, it is a very smooth process. There are also other options to sorting out problems, as per the MBG.
For you to be hit with a warning from eBay as you describe, I can only repeat that there must be a lot more to this story. I suggest you don’t post a defence (and hence more details) on these public boards unless you want to run the risk of being blocked by many sellers. Instead of being offended, work out what you did that may have triggered the warning, and see if you can achieve a return and refund in future (if it happens to be necessary) without any issue or problem.
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoI do not believe you should make such comments without knowing the fact and failed to understand why you are defending eBay's action. I welcome eBay to do their own investigation.
Assumingly you are just an eBay user how would you know how rare it is for eBay to issue such email?
sandypebbles
·2 years agoeBay is always all about the buyer
And eBay have always allowed buyers to do as the want, say as they want and ignore all
Just read through the forum at any of the thousands of posts from sellers who have been scammed, false claims, threatening messages, having buyers threaten harm to them etc etc etc and eBay side with the buyer by refusing to act in any way
Yes, people here are indeed other members who know because we see eBay shield defend and protect buyers no matter what
Take it up with eBay if you have an issue with eBay
But don’t expect more than a couple of other members to automatically jump up and down and you are being cautioned for no reason
we have no clue what the story is
sunrise_1959
OP2 years agoI have sold genuine items on eBay so far no never has an issue. I'm sure there is a lot of buyer out there was taken advantage of with none genuine items and I believe if an item is not fit for purpose then a refund is warranted and yes I will take it up with eBay.
