Ebay has become a huge scam.
Summary: dudenumber3 expresses frustration with eBay, stating that it has become a significant scam. sandypebbles, the-other-burt65, and gutterpunkz05 also contribute to the discussion, although their specifics are not disclosed. The sentiment overall seems to reflect dissatisfaction with the platform, possibly due to negative personal experiences or perceived issues.
All over the internet AND on the ebay website itself are advertisements for various products for sale at a certain price. When you click on that item, they are at a higher price or not available. For example, I saw some 3D printing filament advertised for sale at $20 a roll on the front page of ebay's website. I clicked the ad and went through to sellers website. As soon as I clicked on ANYTHING in the drop down menu, the price went up to $25. There was nothing in there for the advertised price. This is just one of the many many things I've tried to buy. Surely this breaches consumer law. I don't know how ebay get away with it.

·2 years agoI found 1 variable listing, price from $20 - $40 , 25% discount for multiple items.
Multiple colors and types of filament, all $25 +, except for the Black, which is $20.

·2 years agoNormally, if you don't click on the new open page, it should show you the item that was listed for that price.
The soon you click to make an option, you get to see all the other prices...
It is not a nice way to get people going through your listings, but it does work, as you just find out...
They are not breaking any laws as there is always one item (even if out of stock (ghosted)) listed at that advertised entry price.. It is annoying for sure and a bit of waste of time, but that's how the soup is served around here...
Buyer Beware
sandypebbles
·2 years agoa) eBay do not sell anything for a start
b)Variation listings are permitted
c)Australian consumer law does not apply to sellers in China, where a very good portion of such listings are from
d)Buyers happily keep buyers who are scammers in business by buying from them, and then complaining how 'eBay let them buy it'
Without buyers buying, those who are scammers would very quickly 'go out of business'
Very easy not to support scammers
Have you reported any of these listings?
What are some of them item numbers?
