EBay international shipping

·2 years agoAnswering as a buyer. No problems with the seller. Great communication and I’m happy with my purchase. However I would never again buy from a seller who uses Ebay international shipping due to high postage costs and poor service, sending an expensive antique item in just a plastic bag with very little protection. The seller packaged the two items in a sturdy box together, but the eBay shipping hub separated them into the two packages, one in a flimsy box and the other in a plastic bag. Not the sellers fault.

I will instruct all sellers from whom I buy — do not send via balloon.
Or… no, I’ll just narrow it down to any seller who has used a balloon. That brings it down to … hmmm… let me see… 2 to the power of absurdity multiplied by a figgy pudding, carry the eight and add one whoopee cushion, and that gives me…. NO SELLERS!

·3 years agoWhen I buy things from overseas, I try to cultivate quite a patient approach. (Unless the items are time-sensitive… but in that case mea culpa … or if the shipping method is a deliberately chosen fast priority method.)
I know you’ve often said that some of the things you’ve purchased just aren’t available in Australia, so if that’s the case, leaving large room for world events making delivery times blow out might need to be part of your expectations, michelle.
As an alternative, you can set up a UK delivery address and get all of your UK purchases sent there, then delivered to your address in Australia in one large lot if you buy strategically at roughly the same time - and the delivery from the UK delivery address to Australia will be very fast (3-5 days perhaps), but that is ONLY worth it if you have a lot of orders because the parcel forwarding cost will be upwards of £100.
I did place an order from a UK company on 4th Feb. We’ll see how long it takes…

OP3 years agoThe order has reached destination country, that was the one through Ebay International shipping so I should have it in a few days the other order from USA thru Fedex hasn’t updated tracking for quite a few days so I’m not holding out much hope for it. The seller for the 1st order told me to be patient as it is on its way apart from a delay so he was correct and he is always reliable as I’ve bought of him a lot over the years. It’s good when you know a seller is reliable.

·3 years agoIf it's over water, then the tracking isn't going to be updated. Sadly, satellites don't update tracking, nor do random UFO's over the US. You go through this angst regularly, for the love of anything, please be patient. You've been doing this a long time now. You know that your items eventually arrive. Stop going into panic mode because it's taking more than 2 days to arrive from a foreign country. The pets aren't going to expire because something takes a few extra days to arrive. RELAX!!!

OP3 years agoThere has been no further update on my parcel since 2nd Feb, all it says is parcel dispatched (which I’m hoping is on its way to Australia) tracking on Australia Post website doesn’t recognise the tracking number yet! There is also note on the US tracking which says”Delays for Mail to Australia on West coast USA.”
The ETA for it is 10th March which is over another 4 weeks, that is an estimate only.
Hopefully it will update tracking in the next few days, we’ll at least by this Wednesday.

OP3 years agoThe order hasn’t moved since 8th February that is latest tracking information, it says Airline transit delay, I contacted seller & they replied, that I will have to wait til it moves on, it should be almost in Australia by now, I also have another item that is being held up, from USA, carrier is FedEx, this is “SO” annoying. I don’t remember this happening before & I have bought a lot from USA over the years.

·3 years agoYou have bought a lot from the US and this happens nearly every time, so I don't think you can remember this not happening before. With all due respect, you really should stop buying stuff from overseas. It spells trouble for you nearly every time.

So… I’ll be an interested onlooker here.

·3 years agoI bought two items in the last few months that were supposed to be shipped by USPS (First Class) and were then shipped by eBay international service. In the first case the seller was even confused and when the tracking said delivered (in the USA, you know, delivered to the next carrier, as eBay international shipping is like Pitney Bowes, using multiple carriers, just cheaper) she even asked me if I got my item.
The final carrier in my area is Aramex, which is a drawback for me, even if those two items were not excessively delayed and even arrived quicker than some Aramex deliveries within Australia or even the same state (NSW for me).

OP3 years agoThe item was shipped yesterday but it’s showing as delivery date 30th January, which doesn’t make sense, another item I had ordered previously through USPS didn’t arrive and I was told they were unable to send it through.
This current order I have could possibly suffer same fate.
I’ll just wait n’ see for now.

OP3 years agoFrom USA, USPS-carrier, it’s a pet item. I’m just a bit dubious about it actually getting to Australia.
