    Faulty Item and Seller gone

I purchased an automatic chicken door as a guest (couldn't remember login at the time) and received the item with all the usual confirmations In Aug 25. The door operated ok for a month or so and now does not work. I've tried to contact seller and contact ebay but the listing is gone and appears the seller is too.

I'd like a refund or a solution but cannot work out what to do as cannot go through the usual return pathway as item doesn't show up....

You'd like a refund but you're not going to get one.

Many items do not have any warranty at all.

Even in real shops, after a month you'd be out of time for a lot of returns. Depends on the item.

If an ebay ad mentions any warranty, you'd be best to disregard it unless it is an authorised seller. Otherwise they are just words on a screen.

If the seller is listed as located overseas (seller location, not necessarily item location), be extremely wary too. Don't assume anything you buy direct from overseas will pass Australian standards. It probably won't.

At this stage, it doesn't matter that you bought via a guest account because you'd be well out of time even if you had used your normal login.

If you continue to use ebay, keep in mind the golden rule-you only have 30 days from the arrival or expected arrival date in which to open a proper ebay claim for an item not received or a faulty item. It is definitely not a warranty, you'll only be covered if the item arrived faulty or eg broke down on first use, whatever.

Warranties are not covered, not on ebay, not on paypal.

Your only solution is to be extremely careful who you buy from and what you buy on ebay. As  a rule, electricals, electronics, well known brand names at super cheap prices from China etc-avoid.

You are way out of time to do anything

Even when you buy as a guest, you can still always get help, but within the time limit just the same as using your own account

there is 0 you can do after six months

    eBay doesn't provide a warranty.

The terms are strictly 30 days from date of receipt for the Money Back Guarantee to work. You are  3 months past that.

IF the seller was a register Australian business with the Manufacturer's authorisation to sell the product (haha) you would have access to a warranty.

Where was the seller registered? Where were the goods allegedly located? How long between payment and receipt?

These are important questions as the answers will determine the warranty status - nonexistent in all probability.
