Genuine feedback removed by ebay for no reason

Summary: btecau posted about their experience with Ebay, where their genuine feedback was unexpectedly removed without explanation. They express frustration over this issue and are likely seeking advice or support. springyzone did not provide any further comment or response in the discussion.

I recently purchased a lot of 5 cisco phones from an ebay seller. They shipped one. upon receiving the shipment i immediatly contacted the seller. The seller ignored me. I then opened a case with ebay for it. The seller also ignored ebay too resulting in them taking action to initiate a partial refund.

Feedback was left on the seller regarding the experience.

Ebay has now removed the feedback.

I don't think that's fair on me as the buyer who got scammed by this seller nor is it fair on future buyers who are not warned.

I also now as an ebay user dont have any trust in the feedback system if a seller can ignore all communication, have ebay forced to step in then magically be able and willing to reach out to ebay to remove genuine feedback as if nothing ever happened. It makes me question how many of these other 100% feedback sellers are,

Ok so spoke to ebay and they said that the seller has reached out to get the negitive feedback removed. yet completely ignored correspondence with ebay

the seller who by the way still has still yet to respond to my message has been able to get ebay to remove the feedback stating that he didn't respond to communication and shipped 1 item instead of 5.

I find it incredibly deceitful that a seller can do that, Its also potentially against consumer laws in that removing or editing genuine negitive feedback can be considered misleading and there has been cases where companies have been fined large amounts of money for doing this.

example Health Engine did this and was fined 2.9 million dollars for doing it.

    I agree with you.

Others will probably jump on and explain that ebay has policies about feedback and if you break any of the rules, a seller can ask to have that feedback removed.

I totally agree with some feedback removals. For example,  feedback that is abusive or totally at odds with the rating give, such as someone giving a negative rating but saying something like fantastic item and seller.

But what I find annoying is feedback that is detailed and accurate but is removed because the seller rings up to object. I have been in the same position as you, given a refund after total non communication from a seller about an item not new as described, and feedback removed.

In my opinion, where the feedback is polite and factual, but ebay is worried about some part of it, they could remove it but send it back to the person who gave it and ask them to resubmit it, citing what part of it is not acceptable and needs to be deleted.

Some people probably wouldn't bother, others would.

The irony to me is a buyer can usually get away with something like Avoid this seller at all costs (without giving any reason), yet sometimes someone who gives a factual or detailed account that might be useful to other buyers, has theirs removed.
