Just received 3 packets of hydrogen tablets from H2Tab as ordered, from a seller supposedly receiving 937 positive reviews. Sadly it is clearly fraudulent and someone in China impersonating the US company. On receiving the 'raspberry flavoured' tablets I placed one in water and it just sat there, not dissolving, not fizzing, not releasing hydrogen, just slowly turning the water yellow. Half an hour later and the tablet still just sat there. I'm guessing it is just food dye but I'm not checking the water to find out what it might be. Decided I would write to the seller but got an instant response saying the seller no longer exists to contact. How can Ebay allow this to happen? I established it was a fraudulent easily once receiving the box, simply by comparing what I received to the actual boxes online from the US company - there were subtle but obvious differences. I then tried to write to Ebay and report the seller but found every time I pushed 'submit' I got the message in red "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." No doubt I am not the only one taken in by this fraud but Jesus, they make it hard to alert them to issues. This is the first time I have ever used Ebay and I now realise it is the Wild West and you simply do not know if what you are paying your money for will ever arrive, or if it does, will it be what you thought you ordered. Seems to me that Ebay's processes and checks are shot to pieces and dodgy sellers, gangs and criminals are free to advertise online using Ebay's services, technology and good name to fraudulently rip off and exploit innocent consumers. A pretty **bleep** business model really.

·1 year agoSo it looks like I may have fallen into this silly trap as well. I wanted the H2 tabs that I had been seeing online but nowhere in Australia sold them so I ordered them on eBay. When they arrived the packaging looked legit but the tablets in the little blister pack were falling out of their slot and it just seemed a bit odd and shabby with no logos etc on the blister pack. So I decided to message the seller to ask and sure enough, they are no longer on eBay.
My tablet did fizz up when I dropped it into water but I decided not to drink it to be on the safe side. I'll pursue a refund from eBay and order a brand that are available in Australia instead.

Are you saying that the unregistered seller S in your feedback and the seller you ordered from are two different sellers ?
And that the fraudulent seller used exactly the same name as the real US company H2TAB ?

Have you actually opened a claim through eBay's Money Back Guarantee as advised in my earlier post ?
Is the item still in your purchase history or has it been removed ?
If you haven't already done so and you're still within the 30 day limit, if you purchased on the US site, it would be better to log on to ebay.com and file the dispute.
Did you pay with Paypal ?

OP1 year agoThe seller still exists as when complaining to Ebay they contacted them and I have received several emails from them.....they continue to supply other products to people. They initially said they would give me back 20% of my money, then 50%, then 100%...still have seen no refund. At no point have they responded that the product isn't fraudulent as I claim in my email to them (and to Ebay). I simply do not understand how Ebay allows this to happen - they impersonated a well known US nutritional company, literally copying their packaging and name and you did not get to see where the product was coming from until after you have ordered.

It clearly shows where a seller is registered (as well as their feedback) on their feedback page before buying
Have you contacted the nutrition company and notified them there is a seller registered in China pretending to be them?
eBay cannot/will not do anything about sellers registered in China
The seller starting with S still shows as being unregistered by eBay, are you saying they have opened another account and or have another account in a different name, other than the one you bought from?

·1 year agoNo one here is 100% sure which seller or items you are talking about. You can't name the seller on here but you could put up an item number, then we could have a look at one of the ads.
You need a refund. Just messaging the seller is obviously getting you nowhere.
Stop wasting time. Open a proper ebay claim for an item not as described/faulty item.
In your claim, you might be better off NOT to claim it is a counterfeit or go off on a tangent claiming the seller is impersonating a US company.
All that could be true, but you're after a refund here and ebay isn't into doing big investigations so if you claim the item was faulty, that's all you need to do. Follow up your claim, finalise it, so you get the refund.
The seller is never going to admit their product is fraudulent or a knock off.
Ebay doesn't sanction Chinese sellers, the laws there are different to here. There are many products on ebay where Chinese sellers have used the photos from the genuine site.
Before every purchase on ebay, you really need to double check where sellers are registered. It does take a few clicks to get to it, you won't see that info in the actual ad. But it is there in the information about the seller.

If you decide to use ebay in future, here's what to do.
1. Check out seller location. Ebay isn't set up to make it ultra easy but if you keep clicking away at the seller name, feedback score etc eventually you'll see a page that lets you click the 'About' information and that will show you where the seller is registered and when they joined ebay.
Personally, I try to avoid Chinese sellers and for supplements, I would no more buy from China than fly in the air. You have to be a bit savvy about things.
Ebay is only a platform for sellers, it doesn't get to see each product, it can only know there is a problem when multiple people open claims against a seller or report a problem. Ebay does have a money back guarantee if things go wrong but the ebay set up isn't ideal & you're better off if you avoid problems altogether. So avoid Chinese sellers if you can.
2. Price. I bet you bought as you thought you were getting a bargain. If the price is too good and it is not being sold direct from the company, be suspicious.
3. Feedback. It is not a sure fire way but it helps to check out all the negs and neutrals. If you're seeing a seller, a big seller, with under 99%, there could be problems.
Ebay is okay to use but some categories are best avoided-electronics, phones, expensive stuff from overseas and so on. Start with small purchases from aussie sellers with a good track record.

You cannot report a seller who has already been removed, no wonder it tells you there is an issuee
The seller no longer exists
Yet even after eBay remove them, you still say they are supporting the seller?
Are you saying their feedback page showed they were registered in USA?
Most likely it said they were registered in China
And you say 'reviews' reviews are for products not sellers
Even IF this seller did have 937 positive feedback, how many negs did they also have?
And most importantly, why would you buy such a thing from some random on eBay in the first place?
It is not the 'wild west' if you know the basics of buying and how to use the site
Aside from the seller who is no longer registered (removed by eBay) the other seller you bought from is also registered in China and has feedback in the gutter
Care about who you buy from.

That is because eBay deregistered the seller. So eBay did do something. Your choice is not to buy from shonky sellers in the first place, which you didn't do.
And that is when use use the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

OP1 year agoThey were impersonating a well known US company using exactly the same packaging and name. At no point did it say they were a Chinese company. Tell me Oh bright one, how do you avoid this if the first time you find out they are Chinese is when you realise the product is coming from China, after you've ordered it? And how the hell does Ebay allow it to happen?

Very easy to avoid by caring about who you are buying from
You, as every buyer have the option to look at feedback before you buy
If you had, one of the first things it says is where a seller is registered
Both sellers who have left you feedback are registered in China
One, now re-registered and the other still registered with very very poor feedback
You want to know 'how the hell does eBay allow this to happen'
Why do buyers not care who the buy from?
All the information is right there
Before buying
So again, eBay has de-registered the seller (under the using name in your feedback anyway)
and given eBay never touch sellers registered in China, they either a) were one heck of a massive, massive dosey of a scammer or b) (more likely) someone else has already contacted the company the seller was impersonating and the seller being impersonated contacted eBay
So again, email the company yourself and tell them about the seller

NEVER buy anything like that from shonky Chinese sellers, only buy from reputable Australian Pharmacies.
