How to deal with a seller profit gouging on postage (charge the same fee on multiple items)
Summary: westecinc raises an issue about a seller profiting unreasonably by charging the same high postage fee for multiple items purchased together. twyngwyn engages in the conversation, although their specific responses are not detailed. The discussion involves both participants trying to address or find a solution to this problem of excessive or duplicate postage charges during transactions with online sellers.
So i've won 4 comics from a US seller. The shipping fee on each individual comic was listed at $20US which is the standard rate.
A comic mailer box case easily fit up to 6 comics in it. So the seller can post the 4 comics in the one mailer for $20 (which multiple other sellers do as standard). However, this seller has 'combined' shipping so that shipping is free on three comics, but $80 on the fourth comic. Effectively, they are trying to pick up a free $60 profit.
The seller is now ignoring all messages. What is the best way to alert eBay of this as I imagine that the seller is forcing other buyers to pay exorbitant shipping fees after agreeing to combine shipping (to reduce cost, not make free money).

OP1 year agoOne item is https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186781545824
They have 350+ sales, so not new. Feedback is 100%, so the lack of responses to messages is odd. I had won one item and then messaged them to advised that I wanted to get another 3 items so that they could all be shipped together under the one shipping fee. They responded positively to that.

·1 year agobe patient....they are probably trying to 'work it out' as they might need to bypass or change eBay's preferred option (which will cost you more).....a lot of US sellers have been opted into 'it' without knowing.....good luck!
