How to speak to agent - not working on multiple browsers and different times

Summary: The discussion initiated by nattiepattie is focused on the issue of speaking to an agent, which is not functioning properly across multiple browsers and at various times. Despite multiple participants, including sandypebbles, twyngwyn, and springyzone, responding to the post, no detailed content of the discussion or solutions are provided.

I’ve tried all week trying to contact eBay via live chat and other options. Can’t speak to agent on any browser. Seller was taking days to reply me and not shipping item or giving me an indication of when he’d ship or ETA. Tried to repurchase similar product and cancelled original purchase and seller declined this, then seller shipped the item not long after this. I wanted to cancel and refund due to sellers delays, purchasing a product that would arrive on time and needed product by a certain time - not sure how to proceed?

You are entitled to receive your item by the estimated delivery dates. They are in every ad so I am not sure why you were needing the seller to give you an ETA. The ETA in the ad is what counts.

It is sounding as if you have had an item that is about a week overdue? If that happens, you do not have to run around trying to talk to someone on ebay, they like to do everything as automated and cheaply as they can. So what you do is you go into your My ebay section, find your purchase details, and click to open an ebay claim for an item not received.

My guess though is the seller would then have rushed to post and upload a tracking number, though my own belief is ebay could improve things: if an item is overdue and there is no tracking number already uploaded it should be an automatic win for the buyer.

However, if your item is overdue and you have still not received it, I'd still open a proper ebay claim now.

As you have discovered, you as a buyer cannot cancel any sale.

It's really important then that you're really careful before you buy from anyone on ebay.

Ebay is full of millions of different sellers and they most definitely are not all equal.

Some are good, some are absolutely dreadful.

It's no good believing any ebay spiel either that may say a seller is reputable. You need to decide for yourself. Look at their feedback, especially the negatives. Click on the seller name till you can look at ebay details about the seller and see where they are registered. Avoid overseas sellers if you can, especially China. And avoid sellers with a bad feedback rating (anything under 99% needs a good look).

Be extremely cautious on ebay. And if you want something by a due date, either buy in a real store or from a regular ebay seller with a 99.9% rating or something like that. The odds are then more in your favour.

What is the item number? What is seller’s handling time?

You do not need to contact eBay, they are not going to do anything

Buyers cannot cancel, only the seller can and they are not obligated to agree

The estimated delivery date was shown before you bought, was it past that date when you requested to cancel? did it end up arriving within the time shown when you purchased?

Is this from the seller with the terrible feedback?
