I bought dog poo bags labelled as biodegradable and compostable. They were plastic.
When they arrived they were plastic. Nowhere on the packaging were they labelled as compostable - which is very different from biodegradable. Compostable bags are generally made from vegetable waste and (as I've now found out) need to comply with this standard AS 5810-2010. They do not contain plastic.
This is greenwashing and a SCAM.
I returned the item but the seller charged me 25% of the price for postage!
So they misled me and can now continue to mislead others because ebay says CASE CLOSED.
I've sent a complaint to the ACCC - of course they don't deal with individual cases but they need to know about these scams.
People try to do the right thing but these misleading sellers need to be stopped
So how do I get my postage back and stop these rip offs?

·3 years agoTo add, you could possibly try the EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) in your state is the seller is selling plastic bags and falsely claiming they are biodegradable/ compostable

If the item is not as described, and you open a not as described dispute, the seller pays the postage if they want the item returned
How did they charge you 25% postage ?
What kind of case did you open? (that eBay can say 'case closed')
Was it not received rather than not as described?

·3 years agoDid you open a refund/return request? A buyer does not pay for return postage if the item is not as described.
