I have purchased a 6 gang light switch
The light switch on their Ebay page shows a Matt black switch in the horizontal. WHat I received was a glass black light switch in the vertical. I have sent the seller an email request the correct switch as it is to match other Matt black switches already installed in my house. I have not heard back from them since sending the request about 5 days ago. Can EBay help. Regards David

·3 years agoIt looks like you got what you bought.
The listing clearly states GLOSS BLACK/
Does not state the switch is in the horizontal configuration. Rather that the switch inserts can be flipped from the horizontal to vertical. If you are not competent to perform that task, then I truly hope you do not intend to perform the actual install.

·3 years agoIt is important to read the product description carefully and not just rely on photos, as things can look matt in a photo displayed on a computer monitor or phone screen even if it's a photo of something glossy. If what you received does not match the description ( which may differ from your expectations) then do as Countess suggests.

Read my post with the screenshot Cam, the item is described as GLOSS and it shows that the switches can be turned to either horizontal or vertical positions.

·3 years agoIt looks like it's up to you to flip the switches as said in the listing. So there would be no cause for an eBay dispute.

·3 years agoBeen there, done that R@L. I'm not sure how the OP will go, the seller does accept "change of mind" returns, but I suspect they might try to make it difficult - or just refund without return..
Me, I'd just switch the switches around and use some matt black paint.................

·3 years agoDavid, with only 2 feedback on your account, can we assume that you’re inexperienced with how eBay works?
You need to be aware of the function and timeframes as per the T&Cs of the eBay MBG (Money Back Guarantee). If what you received is not as described in the listing, then you can (within 30 days of receiving the item) open a returns request to get a full refund. Assuming it is indeed not as described, the seller is obliged to provide you with a return postage label or some other way of sending back the item at their expense), or to waive the return and simply refund you in full if they are either unable or unwilling to do so.
The case to open is known as INAD or SNAD (Item Not As Described / Significantly Not As Described … both acronyms/terms are describing the same thing).
You MUST act within 30 days of actual delivery. One second over the timeframe will see you unable to open a case, because eBay’s refund/returns process is bot-driven.
You must provide whatever evidence is needed. State the issue clearly and succinctly. Choose the correct option. Attach photo as needed (if needed).
Ask on these boards if you need help in how to describe the issue in reference to what the listing described. You can post the item number (the number of the item listing which is in the original listing) but you can’t state the seller’s username or actual name as that’s against the Community guidelines and a moderator will edit any such reference.
By the way, you're not contacting eBay by posting on these boards. They are public forums on which any eBay member can post, and the responders are, like you, fellow eBay members who give voluntary helpful advice and information. (The standard of help is usually well above the type of cut-and-paste help provided by eBay customer service.)
You must not close the case upon a mere promise from the seller. A case once closed can’t be reopened and unscrupulous sellers know this.
If the seller offers to send a replacement, unless they are a highly reputable Australian business selling on eBay it is generally better to refuse that suggestion and insist on the refund. This is especially the case if the seller is overseas, as may be the case. Chinese sellers are notorious for dragging out the available timeframe with naïve buyers (with offers of replacement “on the way” until it’s too late for an eBay claim.
Check the seller’s feedback profile page to see where they are registered, as opposed to where they say (in the listing) where an item is located.
If label is provided with seller agreeing (in the case) to the return and refund, use that label and return the item within the timeframe specified. Don’t delay.
If there’s an offer of partial refund, do not accept unless you’re happy to use the item even though it’s not what you actually ordered. You are entitled to full refund and seller should either receive back the item OR decide it’s not worth their paying the return postage for the item to be sent back.
If seller doesn’t provide satisfactory resolution within … is it 3 or 4 business days? … then you should see an option for you to ask eBay to step in, AKA escalate the dispute. That should resolve the issue. Bear in mind that if you don’t escalate an unresolved case within 21 days, it will close automatically without resolution (which means no refund).
Read this link thoroughly: https://www.ebay.com.au/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210
There are other Help pages that you should read as well, but the MBG page is the most basic one that all buyers really should bookmark.

·3 years agoFor someone who agreed to the forum rules of not 'naming and shaming' when signing up, you certainly went out of your way to do so as many times as possible
Have you read the buying basics?
This is a member to member forum, not read by eBay
emailing a seller is not going to achieve anything
Communication needs to be done via eBay messages
You need to do as advised and use the tools eBay gives you if the seller is not helpful

·3 years agoYes eBay can help... IF you use the eBay Money Back Guarantee & open a case for Item Not As Described & follow all the steps... no need for further communication with the seller.
