Is it possible to "report a seller" for dodgy behaviour.
Summary: The discussion is initiated by anwsmh asking about the possibility of reporting a seller for questionable behavior. After their initial query, dazoshea and lezned-toycollector engage, but they all seem to be unsure or looking for clarity on how to proceed. kh-federico also joins in, further reflecting the group's uncertainty about the reporting process and hoping for guidance or existing protocols to address the issue.
Recently I was the victim of seller fraud (the seller has been removed from eBay) and after I posted about the experience, I was contacted by eBay to ask about my interactions with eBay.
During the conversation, I asked what I should have done differently (to opening an "item not received case" when the seller had provided a tracking number of an item that was delivered to another address than mine) and was told "to report the seller to eBay".
As far as I can see the only way a report can be made is for "Violating eBay's policies" which included things like "doesn't intend to conclude the sale" (IIRC).
In this case I had a purchase history with a tracking number that wasn't updated (initially), another tracking number (after asking) that was invalid and then finally the tracking number (that was used to update the purchase history) showing delivered. Since that Australia Post tracking number never appeared in my "MyPost" account (showing pending deliveries to me), it was obvious that it wasn't my item.
It seemed to me that I'd have a hard time reporting the seller with only this (which should have been rock solid evidence of seller malfeaseance), but in case it happens again I'd like to know what to do.
Thank you.

·8 months agoSounds like a common scam I was unaware of. Same is happening to me just now. Seller sent item to my street, but to number 2 not "20". So Aust post returns item back to seller when the recipient not identified properly. My seller responded, saying he realized he wrote the wrong address, but he will sort it out and resend it.
After that, seller never responded again..... As the item didn't even arrive for 3 weeks to my suburb, Of course this scam takes me over the 1 month limit to respond in. At that point ebay removed my "get ebay involved" icon . So..... the seller completely gets away with it). So ..... the seller doesn't even get a bad rating for stealing off you, because ebay remove the "Leave feedback icon" . Paypay may have saved me if i had used it, but the transaction wasn't working on Paypal at the time, so I used Gpay. My only recourse now is escalate my complaint to WA Consumer Protection and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading . Although this is covered under Australian law regardless of ebays 1 month rubbish, It is a whole lot of hassle...... But guess what. I know its not worth my time, but I'm determined to call this seller out and make him pay regardless! Otherwise its too easy to keep doing it without any bad reviews. No buisiness like to be tied up in government red tape.

·8 months agoPlease don't bump old threads as whatever comments you may add will more than likely be irrelevant to the OP after more than 3 years have passed.
If you're actually hoping for others to reply, I suggest you start your own thread. This one will undoubtedly be locked in the very near future.
