Item broke after 4 months
Bought a clock in April. Few wks ago 1 hand came adrift. Can only be seen in vid, not photos. 21 sec limit to post vid to ebay. Weeks of asking seller to give me an email to send it to.Only response is to tell me I need to return it to China, while he has Sydney address. Bot can't help me, and unable to find a human to help. Never imagined it wld be imposs to get help. 😞

·2 years agoYou are well and truly out of time for eBay’s Money Back Guarantee.
What you can do (possibly) is open a claim through PayPal Buyer Protection if that’s how you paid. You may be out of time with that too. PayPal Buyer Protection’s timeframe is up to 180 days from the date of the transaction - so check that without delay. It is to the minute, no ifs or buts.
You may be required to send back the item to the seller, but after opening the dispute, you may be able to talk to a PayPal rep and point out that the listing stated item was in Australia and the cost of tracked postage to China isn’t commensurate with the value of the item; it may be that PayPal will waive the need for you to return the item.
But all of this depends on whether you’re still in time. I’d hop to it urgently.

·2 years agoIt is not impossible to get help
But there are time limits
If you are suppose to return it to China, it is because the seller is registered in China. It may have come from a warehouse address here, but those warehouse do not 'accept deliveries' from the public
And you cannot ask the seller for an email address, all communication has to be kept to eBay messages
Avoid buying from dodgy sellers registered in China and you will not have this issue
Or if you paid with PayPal, you have 180 days there
When in April did you buy?

Paid w/ paypal. Thought this was the only method of payment.
I never knowingly purchase anything from China, or outside Aus.
Have to say, this incident has removed any trust I had in ebay. Thx for replying.

·2 years agoThat is up to you
Buyers have all the power and all you need to do is to check a seller's feedback to know where you are buying from
You have a lot of feedback from sellers who clearly show they are registered in China
You need to care about who you buy from, and know the buying basics (such as time limits for opening disputes and so on)
Almost all issues can be avoided by doing these two thing

·2 years agoNot sure why you have lost trust in Ebay, they give you the tools, and you decide to ignore them. The last 5 sellers who have left you feedback, all have feedback in the gutter, you should lack trust in yourself to make decisions on who to purchase from.
Buy from dodgy sellers, you get dodgy products.
