Item return stalls at destination Au post facility
Hi all, I recently returned an item "not as described" Ebay accepted and I returned using label provided by Ebay tracking showed item made it to sellers local facility but then sat now for over a week without further scan activity, this is a sorting facility and apparently not local PO. This has happened once before some years ago.. Ebay assures me I will receive refund although previous occasion I did not receive refund.
Is this some sort of scam ??

OP2 years agoHi all, thanks for replies, Item meant to be signed for, so assume would be scanned on delivery. As of 05/06/24 had still not progressed and I have now proceeded with escalating through Ebay process and now have to wait a further 10 days I'm not on F book and to chase up through Au post requires delivery address which I did not record and as it happens, is not kept in ebay message system
Just have to play it out. If it was delivered without scan then the seller is not admitting to receiving it.

In Sydney, that would be Chullora.
In Melbourne, that would be Sunshine West.
Not sure of other states, but these two are notorious for 'holding' parcels.
It's like they go in a crate and don't move until the crate is full.
Also, it was once reported on these boards (so it must be true 🫣) that trucks aren't to leave a sorting centre until they are full. This results in mail being loaded onto trucks that isn't intended for that destination i.e. at Chullora, a truck leaving for Melb (Sunshine West) will include mail intended for Brisbane if it helps fill the truck and get it on its way.

·2 years agothe claim was made in a thread about post tracking. I know it is probably untrue, which is why I used the words I did when writing it.
Having said that, I once had a parcel tracking that showed the parcel bouncing back and forth between Chullora and Sunshine West several times before making it here to Mildura in NW Victoria.

And yes I have had parcels go all over Australia, I think the best was Melb, perth, sydney, Melb, but not because of the misinformation being peddled, rather mis sorting at the mail centres. It does happen.

Plenty of stories on the Internet about sunshine west if you search...

·2 years agoWithout knowing what the item is, it is also possible that your local postie delivered it (instead of parcels person), and the local postie (mailperson), dont carry scanners so it never gets the delivery scan. I have it happen often with $800 coins and other items. They are lucky I am honest otherwise I could claim not received and get another coin.

·2 years agoMy contact at AP says that most of new fandangled delivery bikes (3 wheeled thingies) are getting scanners as they can carry more parcels, and they are rolling them out to others mailpeople on a capacity basis. My guy still has a wobbly motor bike (which struggles up our hill) and seems to only take the smaller parcels, and I am guessing only when he doesnt have a ton of mail.

·2 years agoIf you have the tracking number then contact Aus Post on their Facebook page. I have had 2 "lost" parcels found after using this method
