I have been using eBay for years but since Covid the Customer service is almost nil. Consequently I avoid it like the plague and only use it when desperate. There is literally no help with difficult sellers who are taking advantage. Ebay if your wondering why your business is decaying, look at the sellers many of whom are appalling. Look inside YOUR lack of buyer support which is literally awful. It's getting very hard to find good sellers on eBay now..... think I will stick to Amazon who may be costly but is much better. I can't even talk to anyone anymore!!!! I am disgusted.. very cheesed off buyer in NSW

·1 year agoIsn’t it good, though, that there are knowledgeable eBay users responding on these boards, giving useful advice on how to handle some of the situations that crop up?
@industrialsurplusandsalesptyltd, that’s one of the eBay black holes; it’s disgusting to see fraudulent buyers getting away with false claims and the seller potentially being out of pocket. At least you were able to resolve it, but I agree that there should be an easier way in such situations.

·1 year agoYou may be interested to know they treat sellers with the same disregard. We are an Australian B2B seller of industrial goods and were recently the victims of buyer fraud where the buyer returned something other than the $1000 industrial item we sold them. We provided overwhelming proof and EBay immediately refunded the fraudster.
We had to jump through hoops and provide many documents to appeal what should have been an open and shut case. We eventually received a refund but so did the scammer who has now been encouraged to do it again I presume. EBay "customer service" is a generous description.
gutterpunkz05
·1 year agoOpen and shut case, unfortunately that is only your opinion. Ebay and noboby else has any idea what you received as a return.
Ebay pays out hundreds of millions in goodwill payments each and every year.
nicqtaro
·1 year agoAgree, besides their poor and unfair judgement eBay makes you run around its site before you can chat with an agent , they don't even have a customer service manager grade to handle complaints. The agents act like an AI , type out preset sentences and company policies....super poor customer service!!!!
repentatleisure1952
·1 year agoAS a buyer why would you need to contact eBay?
The eBay Money back Guarantee is super easy to use... as you said it's "not rocket science."
Btw I do not believe that you have read ""every post from this year."
nicqtaro
·1 year agowhat question is that? "As a buyer why would you need to contact ebay"
which is similar of asking the following
As a home buyer, why would you need to contact a real estate agent, a conveyancing solicitors
As a bank customer, why do you need to contact a bank customer service staff
As a normal human being, why would you see a doctor
The ebay forum appears to be dominated by a small group of highly loyal ebay fans,
You are right , I did not read evey post from those "group" this year, I feel asleep reading them and as it is a total waste of time - basically unhelpful , biased and non constructive suggestions, I have read many of them but they are basically saying the same thing again and again telling member to read the ebay rule and
EMBG (with a harsh tone) and failed to provide any constructive suggestions. Please simply cut and paste the EMBG or provide a link of the Ebay rules in the post to save you time.

eBay is an EDP - a platform, not a seller. It offers sufficient protection in most cases. I don’t have to be a slavish fan of eBay and its policies to be able to buy safely on the platform; I do need to know the actual policies and also to be wary about cheap tat and too-good-to-be-true scenarios.
eBay is by no means my only go-to for online buying. But I do not and will not buy from Temu, Shein, Alibaba, etc. I’ve already posted extensively about why not.

·2 years agoIf you have been using eBay for years, you ought to know the basics
eBay do not read here (well, very rarely)
It is a member to member forum where members who actually know how eBay works, know the policies etc etc are on pretty much 24/7
Yes, the call center closed due to Covi and did not re-open
Sellers will only take advantage if you let them
eBay is all about the buyer
You do not have to let dodgy sellers play with you
You could choose to open and follow through with the correct dispute, within the time limit
You could come to the forum, say this and this is happening, what do I do?
Don't buy from dodgy sellers in the first place, your feedback shows you often choose dodgy sellers registered in China
Not up to eBay to make good buying choices for you
And your choice if you do not use the tools you are given when problems arise
nicqtaro
·1 year agoIs that mean eBay hasn ' t got enough ability to censor dodgy sellers who are scamming innocent buyers in the "used to be" No 1 e- commerce platform?
repentatleisure1952
·1 year agoI believe it means that you don't have "enough ability" to read the eBay Money Back Guarantee which protects buyers who use it in the correct manner.
nicqtaro
·1 year agoI believe I have enough ability to choose to shop at other safer e-commerce marketplace with more protection, significantly efficient customer support, "much longer refund window" and easier refund process than EbayMBG. Not rocket science .
sandypebbles
·1 year agoIt means buyers have full choice who they buy from. Full choice
full choice if they support dodgy sellers in the first place
Full choice if they do not open and follow through with disputes
Full choice if they ignore all buying basics
The buyer has full control and close to impossible to be 'scammed' if the use the tools they are given
Given you and your friends are all switching to Temu (according to one of the other threads you commented your posts make far more sense now)
So with you dragging up all these threads, since you questioned if I 'work for eBay'
Do you work for Temu?
Do they give you rewards/ gifts for your comments?
You will find most members here have too much common sense to touch Temu with a ten foot pole
What do you think the Chinese government will do with those 'innocent buyers' information?
nicqtaro
·1 year agoOut of curiosity and checking every single community posts this year, it is interesting to see a few familiar community member names providing all super quick (usually within 30mins) and overly enthusiastic responses to deflect all negative towards ebay from other community members . It is good to see someone who are very knowledgeable about all the ebay rules and provide numerous links to support the shop's perspective while condemning any members who go against the shop's policies.
Please have an open mind that some members feel obligated to remind fellow buyers and sellers to be cautious and know what steps to take if similar incident happens to them.
Not just Temu, I also mention about Amazon and now Catch.com , Rakuten , to me , do better in all aspects. People nowadays are smart enough to shop around (price, customer service , delivery time /cost, refund process etc) and choose their ideal online marketplace.
Talking about rewards and gifts for comments, I just found out "some" loyal ebay members with over a few thousand to over 10000 posts, wow !! This motivates me to check on every posts and starting to take part more in the ebay community forum.
repentatleisure1952
·1 year agoKnock yourself out checking "every" post.
Taking more part in the Community is fine... providing you stop spamming the boards, dragging up threads that were old when the Dead Sea was only sick & showing your lack of knowledge in addition to dropping in the odd insult.

·1 year agoMaybe instead of trolling the forum and taking issue with members giving real world, factual information based on polices, you could make better use of your time
No members are rewarded for commenting
When buyers can't be bothered checking who they are buying from, opening disputes etc no amount of 'keeping an open mind' is going to change their minds
Yes, other members are quick to comment with basic facts
Would you rather we keep people with questions waiting
It is a member to member forum, no surprise members are the ones responding
If you want to hear what you want to hear, contact eBay so they can give the sugar coated. flowery responses you seek
They are not going to look into anything etc etc
That is what their scripts tell them to say to get rid of people
Pointing out what the actual policies are is not defending them or agreeing with them
I'd rather post facts than personal opinion
Personal opinion does not help anyone get their money back
Checking feedback and opening disputes does
nicqtaro
·1 year agoI am sorry to tell you that your assumption above "Personal opinion does not help anyone get their money back" is WRONG !!
I have successfully and swiftly got back my full refund from paypal withing their 180 window.
One thing I do agree with you is that I have better things to do instead of wasting time of trolling the forum, reading redundant content given by a small group of highly loyal ebay supporters who basically repeating the same points over and over - blaming members for not reading the ebay T&C carefully , it might be more efficient and beneficial to simply cut and paste the company rules or provide the EMBG link for members to reference.
I see people post "facts than personal opinion" in an empathetic, compassionate and understanding tone while others would give opinion in a harsh, know- it -all and belittling tone, even it that's not the intention. I hope one can show a bit more kindness and consideration to create a more positive and supportive environment for everyone in the forum.

·2 years agoAll the option for help are in front of you, just open the relevant case, Ebay always looks after the buyer.
nicqtaro
·1 year agoI disagree "eBay always looks after the buyer". Please take another good look on the previous community forum with humongous complaints on eBay from buyer.
davewil1964
·1 year agoComplaints from buyers who don't bother finding out how eBay works and can't be bothered reading how the Money Back Guarantee works.
Whether you agree with sugar or not, sugar is correct.

·1 year agoYou have being a member long enough to understand how the MBG works, most of the com[plaints from buyers are from those who have not used the correct process.
repentatleisure1952
·2 years agoYou forgot to mention that eBay hide the Money Back Guarantee... IN PLAIN SIGHT.

·1 year agoI agree with you eBay MBG is the worst compare to other online E commerce site.
