Lack of Support
eBay now caters for sellers only.!! You can't speak to anyone..and if you have a problem with a seller, there is not the support there once was..I will be giving eBay a miss where ever possible.!!

·8 months agoI've been with ebay for 20 years and I beginning to suspect there might be something to this, in the past they were very quick to sort things out and well aware of legal obligations but recently I have also run into similiar issues where there response clearly contradicts consumer law. I'm not sure if its a staff training issue or something more intentional.
The other issue is actually lodging a complaint to ebay that isnt item specific seems to be almost an impossibility unless you write an old fashioned letter via post.

·8 months agoYou can report a listing if you think it is dodgy & a lot of people here do just that from time to time.
It's all automated & from what i can gather, sometimes it results in a listing being removed, sometimes it gets nowhere, or nowhere fast anyway.
As for lodging a general complaint or advice to ebay, nope, they are not in the least interested. I recall reading a long while back, one of their statements that they were not open to/accepting feedback.
I think they do occasional surveys but any feedback seems to be strictly on their terms and for the issues they are interested in, with no facility to add your own comments.

·8 months agoSpringy, the issue in this case was the buyer refused delivery but expected to be covered by the MBG anyway
Quite a long thread on it from yesterday
Not sure how they know it is similar to the OP when the OP made no mention of refusing delivery

·8 months agoYou can speak to someone on ebay but they don't make it immediately easy as they like to have things automated as far as possible.
You haven't outlined what your problem is, so it is hard to help, but after being on the boards for a while, I now know this much- If you have a problem with a purchase, maybe it hasn't arrived, maybe it is faulty or the wrong size, whatever, do not spend too much time communicating with the seller.
Naturally, ebay would prefer you to do that as it keeps you out of their hair, but you do not have to do that.
By all means, contact a seller if you wish, but if the problem is not sorted within 48 hours, do not wait, do not allow a seller to talk you into waiting, open an ebay claim immediately.
Ebay claims are automated to a large extent. You can do it on your own, you don't need seller permission.
If you do this and follow through with your claim, you should be able to get a refund.
My other advice would be to stick to Australian sellers as far as possible because if there is a problem later, it is much easier and straightforward to sort out.
And be extra, extra wary of who you buy from on ebay as there are a lot of problem sellers around, so try to keep to the ones with a really good track record.

If you're dealing with a bad seller, you'll get plenty of support here from very experienced members who will be able to give you the best advice.
Unlike eBay customer support these days , who are for the most part untrained, and read from a script.

OP8 months agoNot getting the support from eBay to contact the seller about their false advertising..I decided to take action myself..
I contacted the Dept of Business and Consumer affairs and spoke to them about the problem..
They have now put the matter on record and will be contacting the ACCC about the matter..
Since that time..I've now heard from the seller apologising profusely and thanking me for bringing it to their attention..They will now change the write up on their listing..

·8 months agoI'll say 'well done you' if the ACCC forces eBay to remove some of the recalled, dangerous , don't pass Australian Mandatory Safety Standards items on this site.
Because eBay won't remove them otherwise, even when they're reported, as you've found out.
eBay make a LOT of money from them, especially, but not limited to, Chinese sellers
But you said "I will be giving eBay a miss where ever possible.!!"
Is the problem with an item you received ?
If appropriate, you have 30 days to open an 'item not as described' case through eBay's Money Back Guarantee.
Have you opened a case ?

What is the item number ? - Don't give the seller's name

I'll say 'well done you' if the ACCC forces eBay to remove any items listed by shonky sellers, but especially some of the recalled, dangerous , don't pass Australian Mandatory Safety Standards items on this site.

OP8 months agoThanks for that link casey...That was what I was looking for..
The seller has now changed his write up to the appropriate description..
I cannot see any item number though in the description..

·8 months agoThe item number on every eBay listing is at the top right of the 'about this item box'

·8 months agoeBay is largely buyercentric
What issue do you have that are not covered by the tools eBay provides to all buyers?
Why can't you speak to anyone?
If you want an eBay answer you use eBay Help at the top of any page and type speak to an agent in the chat bot
No need to tell other members you will be giving eBay a miss
Especially when don't want help from anyone here by explaining the issue so we can advise you what you need to do
And especially if it is about the seller you chose to buy from who has feedback in the absolute toilet
520 negs and 776 neutral feedback?
*if* it is them , you have left it too late to do anything through eBay
