Misleading Information & Country of origin
Summary: The discussion, titled "Misleading Information & Country of origin," involves various participants engaging without explicit details provided in the content. pjp1959 initiated the discussion, which received responses from sandypebbles and *casey*, among others. Despite the lack of detailed content in the posts, the subject suggests concerns about the accuracy of information and origins related to a particular context.
Hi, we seem to be experiencing an increase in deceptive listing's on ebay.
In the way that a particular brand is used on an item, when in fact the item / product is a Chinese copy. I don't want to give a specific example at this stage, as I am in conversation with a seller that is doing this.
If you were to ask buyers if this is the case, you would find out that this is the case. The other problem is false origins of the the item. Quite often, the address for the product is in Sydney, when in fact it is in China.
Most people are probably okay with these things, but I think that sellers should be held accountable & it should be noted in their listings. Otherwise there should be repercussions.
Your consideration on this matter is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
PJP1959

·9 months agoThe lying, fraudulent seller seller advertises:
Original Spirograph
Originally developed by mechanical engineer Denys Fisher for use as a drafting tool...
Brought to you by spirograph Toys...
Since it was first introduced in 1965, Spirograph...
and you received a Chinese copy.
You should have given negative feedback and opened an 'item not as described' dispute.
Instead, you "accept it" saying:
"It is a Chinese copy, but the quality does seem to be quite good. It seems to perform as original".
Sorry, but it's buyers like yourself who are encouraging the fraud.

Most people are NOT okay with these things

·9 months agoWhat is it you would like other members to consider?
It shows on the seller's feedback page where the seller is registered
The feedback comments show if the seller is lying about where items are posted from
If the seller's photos are lifted from other sites
LONG estimated delivery dates
'Strange' prices (ie $81.24 as an example)
It is pretty certain they are either registered in China or drop shipping from there
The problem is buyers not checking feedback before buying
There is nothing wrong with and nothing preventing you from posting the item number
The seller you left neutral feedback for has appalling feedback, including several saying the items are from Hong Kong
This is a seller you made a choice to buy from anyway, when their feedback was there, saying how dodgy they are
If what you received is not what was described, you do not 'have a conversation' with the seller
You open and follow through with the appropriate dispute
You don't buy from a dodgy seller and then have a conversation with them
If they promise a replacement or refund, they are lying
No, I am not ok with buyers buying from dodgy sellers
You are responsible for your own buying choices
Just looking at the several most recent sellers to leave you feedback, all of them have terrible feedback
