Non supply of goods and Ebays innaction to do anything.
Summary: A participant initiated a discussion regarding a complaint about the non-supply of goods and eBay's inaction. Several participants, including biscuits1962136, twyngwyn, sandypebbles, and others, engaged in the conversation, although the details of their responses are not provided. The topic seemed to revolve around dissatisfaction with eBay's handling of the situation, but there are no specific insights or resolutions shared in the available details.
I conntacted the supplier, and they said if I am not happy to contact ebay. I did that on the 10th of November and then they did nothing. Ebay has closed the case because of my inaction when I was waiting for them to deal with it.

·9 months agoAlthough you didn't come here with a specific question you have certainly been given enough information to, at least, have a pretty good understanding how this forum works, and what to expect when you come here. You can always expect the advice and help that is available here, and you would do well to remember that for future reference. I hope that you don't encounter any more buying problems, if you do then you will know what to do, as well as what not to do.

·9 months agoCorrect, your inaction
when you open an item not received dispute you need to follow through with it
If you choose not to, yes, the case will be closed because by doing nothing you have told eBay you are satisfied with the outcome (ie the item turned up or you resolved things with the seller)
No use blaming eBay because you did not do what you needed to do as the buyer

OP9 months agoAh. But I did! My investigation come up with a bogus Tracking Number. Brought to their station and .....nothing.

·9 months agoIt's almost impossible to win an item not received case if the scammer uploads a fake tracking number, showing 'delivered".
Initially, eBay constantly sides with the SCAMMER
BUT, eBay's added an "appeal the dispute' for this very reason.
If you have all the proof of fake tracking , I also highly recommend you try sending a private message to eBay through Social media.
Try X first...the eBay staff are more experienced there
https://x.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Also try a Paypal dispute if that's how you paid as they have an option to choose:
"Seller shipped to a different address"
And as a last resort, you could try a chargeback through your bank.
You'll need firm proof of a fake tracking number for all of these optioins.

·9 months agoSorry, too late to edit.
If everything fails because of the ongoing practice of eBay aiding and abetting scammers ...
and they won't help you,
THEN try a Paypal dispute if that's how you paid as they have an option to choose:
"Seller shipped to a different address"

OP9 months agoI did reply stating that the seller gave me a tracking number that doesnt work.

·9 months agoYou do understand that replying in the request is NOT asking eBay to step in, right?
After opening the request, you had to wait a minimum of 3 days before you could ask eBay to step in. You also had a deadline of 21 business days from the date you opened the request to complete this action. If you don't ask eBay to step in, the request will be closed... and a closed request can't be re-opened.
Ask eBay to step in and help
If the seller hasn't responded, or hasn't provided a resolution after 3 business days, you can ask us to step in. You have up to 21 business days from when you opened the original request.
Making comments within the request is nothing more than a direct line of communication between you and the seller. While these comments may assist eBay in deciding the outcome of your request, nothing you add there is actually asking eBay to step in.
There is a very simple black and white process which you should have followed - but for whatever reason, you chose not to do so.... and here we are.
How to ask us to step in
Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on what you've posted here, you didn't actually complete those steps, and simply allowed your request to time out. So the request wasn't closed while you were "waiting for eBay to deal with it" at all.

·9 months agoI don't get it....
You are clearly stating that eBay closed the case because you failed to act within the specified timeframe (of which you were aware)
That's just what they do. It's exactly how any request works. I don't understand the point of the thread.
If you're trying to point out that eBay actually enforced their own policies, the vast majority who read here are already fully aware of how the site works... as are you - now 😉😂

OP9 months agoNo I was trying to point out that eBay in their investigation did nothing. Lip service. Let's sit back, times up, close the case.
sandypebbles
·9 months agoThe point is you don't sit back
You follow through with the dispute
Yes, eBay's responses are copy and pasted from a script
If the case is not opened and followed through with by the buyer, the case closes
Members here do not make the rules/polices
And just because we know them does not mean we agree with them

·9 months agoEbay doesn't investigate, or very rarely.
Most of these disputes are automated.
So, if you opened a dispute and you were not happy with the outcome, if no refund had been forthcoming, then you needed to push the tabs to escalate the claim.
Just opening a claim is not enough. You have to follow through.
You're not the first person to be caught out as sometimes buyers don't realise or understand the instructions. But basically, if you run into problems, it is worthwhile reading up on the help pages to work out the exact procedure you need to follow.
I've had to do that before on other sites too. If I have a problem I read the return or refund procedure so I know beforehand exactly what I have to do.
You'll find that on paypal you generally have to follow up too. Not necessarily always (it may automatically grant a refund on the spot if you have been a regular user for years with no claims).
But usually if you open a claim and don't follow up on it, it would time out too.

·9 months agoYou have 180 days to file a claim with Paypal for items not received, if that' s how you paid
Failing that, as a last resort, you could try a charge back through your bank.

OP9 months agoYes, did all that. If it was an obvious fault on my behalf why would I be this annoyed?

·9 months agoPlease read up on the Money Back Guarantee
biscuits1962136
OP9 months agoYes. Have read all that and understand. Can you please understand that I followed their procedures at best I could and did nothing. My investigations to the courier company come up with a bogus Tracking Number.
sandypebbles
·9 months agoYour original post did not mention you followed the procedure
Your original post suggested that you waited for eBay to 'deal with it' rather than follow through yourself
You also said that you contacted eBay but you did not mention that you, yourself opened an item not received dispute (which you needed to follow through with)
Members here do understand the correct way to go about things, from reading the buying basics, asking questions and experience
But we are not mind readers and we have no idea if other people have followed things correctly
You mention in your latest feedback you are 'still waiting for a refund' from the seller in China with the terrible feedback
And that you have returned the items
Did you open a dispute for that, or just do what the seller said?
Did you pay to return them?
You say you ended up on a merry go round, there is no need for that
You do not need to do 'what the seller says'
Just open the dispute and follow through with it

OP9 months agoThe order you are referring to is an entirely different purchase. That particular purchase did not work and I am now happily dealing with the supplier which has no bearing on the issue I commented about. And where did you get the information about this other purchase? It appears to me that these are eBay generated replies. Well played.
*casey*
·9 months ago"It appears to me that these are eBay generated replies"
What the ???
We're all eBay members here , buyers and sellers, just like yourself
All the information I've given you in my earlier posts # 13 and # 14 is designed to HELP you

·9 months agoAny member can see any other member's purchase history and feedback details.
Well played?
sandypebbles
·9 months agoSeeings as you are going to come up with such nonsense as eBay generated replies, clearly nobody here can take anything else you have written seriously
ebay have no clue that you or anyone else posts here
Yet again the typical response from someone who does like factual replies so they accuse other members of being eBay, being eBay bots or working for ebay
very original
I am aware it is a different purchase
stop supporting dodgy sellers and you will have less issues
stop doing your own thing and expecting to be covered by ebay anyway and you will have even less issues

·9 months agoYou would have been told in the dispute that YOU have to escalate it within a certain time period.
You could try contacting eBay's CS through their hyperlink at the top of the page ('ebay help"), but they will rarely reopen closed disputes.
