I am a 71 yr old person not a child . Why is it that everytime I wish to purchase knife related products transaction is rejected and I am referred to Qld Police web site . I have tried purchasing Chef knives as a gift for a lady who is almost finished her Chef Apprenticeship transaction blocked . In another transaction I was also blocked for trying to purchase a knife roll and sharpening stone and NO KNIVES , Same again . I must say that after being a member of EBAY for 20 years with 100% feedback for the entire time and nearly 1000 transactions , I am disgusted with the way EBAY is treating its users . I know it is not legal to sell knives to those under 18 but because of the actions of a few everyone has to suffer . The Mear fact that I have been a user for 20 years proves that I must be at least 20 years old . Wake up to yourselves EBAY and start to care about your loyal customers.

The Gov should be asking why the young men of the state feel they need to carry a knife

·1 year agoit is easier for eBay to geoblock everyone with a Qld address from buying knives than to age verify anyone with a Qld address for each and every knife related purchase.
As for your eBay ID being 20 years registered, that means nothing as eBay doesn't know if yours is a shared family account. They don't know if teenagers have access to your account.
eBay are simply trying to be good law abiding corporate citizens with their Qld knife ban. This, unfortunately, will include geoblocking any listing with "knife" in the title. There may be other triggers for the block that I, a Victorian, am not aware of.
Your best bet, though not likely to succeed, is to lobby your local Qld member of parliament. I say "not likely to succeed" because David "tough on crime" Crisafulli won't allow change that might facilitate loophole knife purchases.
You need to purchase knife related products from an actual, physical, store.

·1 year agoMy suggestion is that you read up on state laws (Q'Land). Ebay have nothing to do with them.
I am not in Q'land and also more senior than your 71 years and find it a little difficult to buy a decent carving knife in person at a local shopping centre which I recently did. I was asked to sign a slip for the retailer as they did not know who I was. That was not a problem. They need to know they are operating within state laws.
As said your age, no. of years membership and feedback have nothing to do with it. Suggest you do some reading of laws

ApYour age does not come into it, being 71 does not exclude you from the policy that applies to everyone else in Queensland

How long you have been a member does not come into
If you try to buy something you are not allowed to buy, you will be blocked like everyone else who tries to buy a restricted item
Take it up with those responsible for making rules you do not like
Rather than expect eBay to ignore their obligations
Better, take it up with those who committed horrific knife crimes, making such restrictions necessary in the first place
Those are the ones you ought to be disgusted with
Someone not being able to buy a knife from the eBay website is not suffering
