Return accepted, no shipping label given to me, havent been told to buy shipping
I have a completely fraudulent phone from a seller, which I have both reported and requested a return.
The return was immediately accepted, however the seller never told me to buy shipping myself, and hasn't given a return shipping label. I contacted them through Ebay, and they have entirely stopped responding. The return window is about to close and seemingly nothing is happening from either Ebay or the seller. What do I do?

I know it is a rigmarole & it may take a bit of work to actually get through to a real person and not some AI bot, but it can be done.
Go to the blue tab that says ebay help and click on it.
It should come up with a customer service page and down the bottom is the 'contact us' tab.
It will try to fob you off with self help articles but click through the choices eg buying/returning an item till you come to chat with our automated assistant.
You'll get an AI bot at first but if you persist and say your query has not been answered, eventually they will put a real person on.
Have your info handy. Keep it clear-you have opened a claim for an item that was faulty or not as described (I hope that is the case) but the seller in China has not provided you with any way to return the item etc.
With luck, they may be able to approve a refund without you having to return it if the postage for you would be too steep. Get onto it asap but make sure you have a spare hour to deal with it.
I'm sorry you're going through this. The reality is the ebay money back guarantee gets very murky once you buy something from overseas as overseas sellers can't issue a return label. So you risk being out of pocket if you post back and somehow they don't collect or it isn't marked as delivered.
If you must buy on ebay in future, try not to buy anything like phones or electricals on here, not even from aussie sellers. Let us know how you get on.

·5 months agoYes, this sounds like rubbish…..what is the item number?
What is the item number?

·5 months agotwyn it's one of the phones sold by the shonky seller in the OP's most recent feedback.
These awful Chinese sellers build up positive feedback by selling hundreds of very cheap items..
Their feedback % would be a LOT lower otherwise.
The fact that the OP reported it to eBay separately to the 'return' makes me angry because no doubt the report was ignored. This is where eBay should be helping inexperienced buyers, not ignoring them.

If the case/dispute/claim closes, it can’t be reopened. You’ll no longer be covered by the MBG.
Don’t let it get to that point.

·5 months agoDid you open an official dispute through the MBG ? (see below)
If not, open one immediately and do not close it until you are completely satisfied with the result.

If it's the last seller to leave you feedback, they have a terrible feedback rating and are registered in China.
Don't buy mobile phones online unless it's from a reputable seller in Australia.

OP5 months agothanks bro, I only saw the 97.5% positive Feedback, 39K items sold and thought that was enough, obviously not very good with Ebay.

·5 months agoThe 15 negs on the same page in the last month alone did not matter to you?
Plus buying a phone from a random in China?
You need to actually open the correct dispute or nothing will happen
The correct dispute is not as described
Luckily the dodgy phone from the dodgy seller did not start a fire, or worse
Given the seller is in China, they can’t get you a shipping label
They are hoping to make you wait until it is too late to do anything
97.5% for a high volume seller is total garbage

OP5 months agoThe website says "You can ask us to step in & help if the seller has not resolved your concerns within 3 business days." I however cannot see a button to tell them to step in and help, and therefore can't open a dispute request. Not sure how else to open a dispute request, even though they haven't responded for well over 3 business days.

·5 months agoAt the bottom of the dispute email from eBay there should be a "contact us" link, try that tomorrow during business hours, and ask to speak to a supervisor.
Explain the situation and remind them that it's illegal to send known fraudulent items through the post.

OP5 months agosorry but there is no "dispute" email, only emails regarding the return request being sumbitted. Whenever I click a "contact us" link, it takes me to the generic customer service page. How do I start a dispute?

OP5 months agothat link does not help me start a dispute, it gives instructions to find the "ask ebay to step in" button, and links back to the generic customer service page, where there is no button saying "ask Ebay to step in". this is the button I have been looking for to raise a dispute.

^^^the generic customer service page
At this rate I will just wait for the return window to close to see if any new UI appears allowing me to raise a dispute.

·5 months agoScroll down to the bottom of the page in that link and it has the "contact us" button, click on that to proceed (during business hours).

There's a lot of confusion going on in this thread so let's start at the beginning.
You can't open two return requests. A dispute isn't a seperate process.
A dispute/claim/.case or whatever you want to call it, is opened as a return request using the reason
"item not as described". It becomes a 'case'.
Is that what you opened ?
In which case a seller has 3 business to send you a return label with tracking.
If that doesn't happen you can ask eBay to step in.
What does it show when you click on "Check the status of my request" in this link ?
https://www.ebay.com.au/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701
Or did you open a return using the reason 'change of mind' ?
