rip off chinese sellers!
ebay just continues to let chinese sellers list items in australia and ship from china. also ive just proved that numerous chinese sellers list items for sale they dont have in person and are being shipped from some warehouse somewhere, and all these sellers are selling **bleep** for the same warehouse! all while using a stock photo that isnt what the listed item is. then when you ask for a refund they offer a partial refund and you keep the incorrect garbage! ive tried contacting ebay several times but they dont care cause they are getting a cut out of the sales. im contacting the ACCC and department of fair trading as this is blatant false advertising and ebay doesnt care and sides with the seller EVERYTIME!! im done and am going to try my hardest to get ebay fined or shut down! im so sick of this coming out of my pocket while these chinese sellers just keep flogging their garbage with ebays approval! **bleep** ebay!

You need to check where the seller is registered, not simply look at item location (which can be lied about).

Today I have been dudded by a Chinese Ebayer falsely claiming to be an Aussie.
The seller listing offered 4 day shipping from Melbourne. 12 days later no sign of item.
I complained and was told by the seller Australia Post takes 15-18 days to send a parcel across Melbourne.
Australia Post does in fact take 2-4 days intrastate.
We all know whats going on. The damn thing which is probably a counterfeit Chinese item not made by Sony at all is coming from damn China hence the 18 day delivery..........GRRR
You have to wonder who actually owns Ebay Australia maybe the CCP? that they are OK with Chinese merchants doing anything they want, literally.

As you well know that is not true. The information was available to you before you bought. If you had bothered to spend a few seconds checking the seller out.
Why did you not open an Item Not Received case?
You're not exactly new and should have a reasonable idea of how eBay works. if not, complaining on the member to member eBay boards is unlikely to be productive.

If the estimated delivery date was shown as being four days away that is, does'nt matter if the seller told you it will take 3 years because it is going via Mars
If the estimated delivery date that was shown before you bid was a couple of weeks away, then you already knew about it and bought anyway
As for agreeing with the rant
You have'nt left neg feedback for this seller
The second most recent seller you chose to buy from clearly shows registered in China, their feedback is terrible, you bought anyway
Seller before that, again, clearly shows registered in China, even worse feedback
You keep on supporting them, so obviously happy to keep such sellers in business

Time's awasting, Dodge ute open a dispute!
As for the feedback, I was curious so had a look. The 2nd & 3rd last sellers dodge ute had feedback from, I suspect they could be the same company as the names are almost the same and both registered in 2023. Dodge ute has not given feedback on either of them yet so maybe one of them is the seller of the sony item that is taking the scenic route.
Buut I also checked out Dodge ute's feedback to sellers (well, just the first 25 or so) and what I noticed was that of the 3 most recent problematic experiences (one seller given a positive though for refund), two were actually from Australian sellers with 100% feedback.
The other was from China with 98.4% feedback. But the seller below that had the same 98.4% rating & got a 'brilliant' comment and was from HK.
I am not saying buyers should not pay attention to feedback, just that I don't think it is always straight forward.

·2 years agoI'm fed up with these sellers. Had a complaint open with eBay "Help" the other day and they wouldn't come to the party about refunding me their commission due to allowing this to continue. The "Help" member claimed he understood why I was expecting eBay to allow it to continue... why not, no skin off their nose because they still get their commission. Right! The other thing that annoys me is that not only are my items always late but this is another way the Chinese Government are assisting business from a communist country to erode the state of our good, democratic Australian economy. This is because basically eBay are turning a blind eye to the fact that these sellers are, en-masse, successfully avoiding the 10% GST obligations that eBay made with the Australian Government about imported items on their platform. So eBay still get get paid, the Chinese sellers screw us over and genuine Australian businesses get hollowed out by the Chinese. Way to go eBay!

·2 years agoIf you don't receive exactly what was in the ad, open a claim through ebay. You don't have to ask the seller, you don't have to message the seller. Just open a claim & follow it up for your full refund.
If your item doesn't arrive by the advertised due date, open a claim through ebay for item not received. It makes not one iota of difference where it is coming from, open a claim.
Read feedback before you buy. There's no harm in taking a slight risk if a seller has some neg feedback because ebay is there for you to make a claim if things don't work out, but the whole process is easier if you stick with sellers from Australia.
And if you're after quality items, you'll probably have to pay a proper price for them.

OP2 years agoagain i click the australia only check box, it shouldnt be up to me as a buyer to investigate if the item is actually IN australia. whats the point of clicking "australia only" if people can just lie about where the item is located? youd think if i clicked the "australia only" check box that items from china shouldnt show up? sellers based in china shouldnt come up in the search? but guess what. 99% of the sellers are based in china. so i guess thats my fault for clicking australia only and not checking that the seller listing items is in "australia only" how stupid of me. my whole point is ebay is not stopping these scammers. i just have to keep buying wrongly listed items and just keep doing refunds till i get the correct item? does that make sense? or am i just the idiot whos not getting it? SMFH

·2 years agoYes, I understand your complaint. You may be interested to know it works the other way round too. Several years ago, my sister & I were selling some items & listed as "Australian only' & one of the items sold to someone in NZ. We were astounded & it turned out 'Australia only' didn't block overseas buyers. We needed to tick some other section to exclude specific countries.
The people selling to you are not scammers as such in that ebay makes it perfectly legal for overseas based sellers to list their stock as being here. Some have stock in warehouses etc
If you're finding though that 99% of your sellers are always turning out to be Chinese then it could possibly come down to what specific items you are looking for. A lot of the stuff I look up does tend to be located in Australia with Australian sellers anyway, so I don't constantly have trouble.
I agree that it is annoying sometimes how ebay is flooded with Chinese junk but basically, they don't seem to be in any hurry to change the system so all you can do is check seller location. It's an extra click but worth it. And look closely at the expected delivery date as that's a big clue too. Keep them to it.
If an item is what you want & it arrives on time and it is exactly as described, those are the main things to worry about.

But lets be honest a lot of the good stuff on here is also made in china.
OP just needs to learn to do due diligence and check the sellers Feedback, 99% of the time that will weed out the dodgy sellers. But it sounds like they cant be bothered, just want to Ebay to do it for them.

·2 years agoYou're right, a lot of our things are made in China. I actually don't like the fact so much of our industry has closed down here, I think it is a shame.
But I know that's the reality.
As far as buying on ebay though, I prefer to buy from Australian sellers if I can. I have bought from Chinese sellers both here and on aliexpress and have had no trouble with it, but I am careful what I buy-nothing electrical or anything like that.
I think sometimes it depends on what you are buying as to whether most of the ads on ebay will be from China or not. For instance I have recently been looking at baking tins and just about all the ones coming up are from Australia.
If OP really doesn't want to buy from China though, he or she will just have to do the extra click to check seller location.

The last few purchases you have made all have bad feedback. You are a bad buyer for encouraging bad sellers, no one forced you to buy.
Forget the ACCC and department of fair trading. Go straight to Judge Judy she will sort them out.

Somehow I think the OP has not figured out how to use ebay, so they are probably best to bleep off.
As for trying their hardest, that won't be anywhere near sufficient.

The ACCC is not going to do anything about sellers in China
You as the buyer choose who you buy from
If it matters that much to you, you could choose to check who you are buying from first (which would take far less time than posting here)
You could also open disputes , the seller does not get a say if you are not sent what you bought
There is nothing to 'prove' all the information is available to you before you buy
The last seller you bought from, registered in China, awful feedback
second seller : registered in China, poor feedback
Third seller : registered here but feedback given (negs) state they dropship from China
Forth seller : Negs galore they sell gabarge
etc etc etc
You are choosing to keep these sellers in business time after time
Learn the bare basics of ebay rather than ranting at other members for your own poor choices and total lack of care in who you buy from

·2 years agoThe Basics of Ebay? I am a seller/buyer. My last 7 out of 7 orders have been from Chinese sellers with Australian flags on every item and a location set as Sydney. They are starting to use fake Courier Companies for tracking who fake Attempted deliveries to make it look as if it is Domestic when really its just taking a long time from China. If every buyer has to learn the so called basics say goodbye to Ebay. It's BASIC for ebay to fix the issue but they don't out of CHOICE. This company has helped chinese sellers for over a decade and personally that's a delete from me. Haha the Basics.. Just stop helping the chinese scam us. Problem Solved.

It does not tell you which city the seller is registered in, so it does not say the seller is registered in Sydney
The item location and where the seller is registered is not the same thing
The basics
Have you reported undeclared drop shipping?
Have you reported item location misrepresentation?
Do you check seller feedback before buying?
Your recent feedback is from a seller registered in China
Some of your feedback from sellers registered here is rubbish
Buyers like yourself could choose to stop supporting such sellers but would rather buy from
You are shown the estimated delivery date before you buy
You are given the tools if things are not as they should be
100% buying basics
If buyers don’t care and just buy anything from anyone, that is the buyers choice

·2 years agoThere are a lot of things I believe ebay could do better in. Showing actual seller registration area is definitely one. I have said ad nauseum that it could easily be added onto the main ad page, along with item location.
I think it should be, because many casual buyers would not even think to look for seller registration, they assume item loocation covers that. Looking up where a seller is registered is not (to me) part of the basics.
Many Chinese ads show an aussie flag, that's true. I have found that flags are most often (not always, but often) used by big sellers of cheap items.
The part of your comment that worries me though is you say buyers are often given false tracking details when the item is really taking a long time to come from China.
One thing that is basic and very clear on every ad now is the estimated date range of arrival.
The sellers can use flags, cite items as being in Australia, but they can't hide the Estimated arrival date.
A buyer should know when the package is late & if no sensible tracking record is available, that is when a buyer should immediately open an ebay claim. No hesitation.
Buyers should at the very least read up about what to do if an item does not arrive on time & act accordingly.
It doesn't matter if the item is in China or here, it needs to be delivered in the expected window and buyers should keep sellers to that or else open a claim and get money back.
