SCAMMERS
I was asked to return items for a refund. Both the items were faulty . I arranged the return and 3 weeks later, i was told i would not be getting one .They had closed the case because i had not contacted them in 20 days . Well, naturally i would not as i had already sent the goods back (collected by DHL from my house), as requested, and was waiting for the promised refund.
so. the scammer (seller) has my money and the scammers,( EBAY) have the goods (working or not) .
I am about 95 bucks out of pocket and have nothing to show for it.
Nice scam EBAY!!

You have marked one of your posts as a solution, so obviously you have sorted it out.

·3 years agoFrom what I can gather, you haved returned the item via Hubbed Returns (label provided via ebay)
So the return does have a tracking number and you should be able to Track the item via Hubbed, or contact Hubbed to ascertain what happened to the return.
Possibly the return did not make it back to the seller in time, returned late, or return failed.
Anyway, Contact Hubbed to find out what happened. One thing for certain, ebay does not have the items, as they are returned to the seller, not ebay.
Edit.
Just to add, I don,t know if the hubbed tracking is auto loaded to the ebay return case, or if you were supposed to upload the tracking.

·3 years agoI can sense your frustration. You've followed what you thought were all the prompts, only to find that you haven't received any refund as expected.
If ebay asked you to return the goods, I am assuming they must have known it was an item not as described claim rather than of an item not received.
From what I understand of that process, (from what I read in another, different thread), is that if the seller issues you with a return label, you need to upload tracking so that ebay can see it actually has been returned. But if ebay itself steps in and issues a label, then that doesn't apply as they have the tracking details.
So if I understand you rightly, ebay issued you with a label & you posted it back to the hub, not the seller?
I know everyone says you have to escalate a claim & I can understand that when it is for an item not received, but you know what, I can't see why it can't be an automated process of refund once a return has been okayed and tracking shows the item has in fact been returned.
The only thing I can think of is that the seller may not have the goods either. I believe that regardless of whether the stipulated number of days has passed or not, you are entitled to know, at the very least, where your items are. It's not good enough for ebay to just say you've timed out. Contact them again, ask to speak to a supervisor or whatever (even if it is via chat) and have all your details written out. Sometimes something that seems crystal clear to you because you've been immersed in the process is not clear to others & you need to have it very clear for the ebay reps.
Things such as what type of claim you made, the dates of sale, date of opening the claim, who issued the return label, where the item was returned to & keep asking where the goods are now.
I know rules need to be followed but as with any rule, there needs to be some flexibility. Ebay needs to have another look. You may not succeed but it is worth having another try.

OP3 years agoI was until now. Seems Ebay scammed me as well. Asking me to send the items back for a refund and then telling me 3 weeks later i could not have one. Wny did they not tell me this before i sent the damn thing back?
See below.
Thank you for your reply!
I can completely understand how it is when you don't have a printer as I do not have one myself. We can’t send you a label in the mail. If you don’t have a printer yourself you could try printing the label in your work place. Alternatively, try asking friends or family to print it for you or you can access a printer at your local library.
I double checked the Waybill number and seems to be correct and working. I will attach a screen shot as reference and will include the steps to schedule a pick up. (sometimes it might take the spaces off and moving into the next steps (area code, and phone number) for DHL to update the information entered in the Waybill section)
To schedule a pick up, you will click on "schedule pickup", select "No" (you do not need to create a label). Click on the arrow to the left of the "You'll need either a DHL Waybill Number or a DHL account number to schedule a pickup" and select "I have a DHL Waybill Number" from the drop-down. You will need to enter the number 7053385695 in the Waybill section, your phone area code and your phone number.
Once the return is delivered back to our shipping hub, our shipping partners will inspect the return, and then we will process the claim within 3 business days.

·3 years agoThe mistake you made.......
Yes, you appear to have opened a dispute. Yes, you posted the item back. The big mistake you made was, you didn't ask ebay to step in and help within the timeframe. Therefore, the dispute timed out and closed automatically. Returning the item isn't enough. You have to ask ebay to step in and help (via the dispute, after minimum 4 days) if you don't get the refund. You only have 21 days from opening the dispute to do so. If you don't, the dispute automatically closes, which is what appears to have happened to you. If you don't ask ebay to step in and help, they assume that the issue has been resolved.
Sadly, you have lost your money this time. Read up on the ebay Money Back Guarantee in the help pages to ensure it doesn't happen again. Despite what you think, ebay are not to blame here (and no, I don't work for ebay).
hughj72
OP3 years agoI did ask them . They would not have sent me an email with instructions on what to do, ie. how to return it if it was too late . I think they just got confused .I complained about not getting replacements and they must have taken it for not getting the original items, which obviously i did or i could not have returned them, That is what happens when they pass you from one person to another and you can't talk to them in person
*sons_n_daughters*
·3 years agoHow did you ask them? Via the dispute, or did you use live chat? What dispute did you open? Item not received, or item not as described? If you opened not received, then if the seller can show tracking as delivered, the dispute will close automatically.
When you sent a message, you were messaging the seller, not ebay. Ebay don't sell anything. They are purely an advertising platform. This is not Amazon. Chinese sellers are notorious for stringing things out so they don't have to refund. They said they would replace, but a replacement is never going to be sent. It's purely a stalling tactic so you run out of time to make a claim. Never ever accept an offer of a replacement. EVER.
It wasn't too late for a return, which is why you were able to send it back. As I said in my previous message, you didn't follow up with it and ask ebay to step in and help, so the dispute closed automatically. You let it go too long without doing anything. No more than 20 days from opening a dispute. No amount of ranting is going to change it unfortunately.
I will quote what you posted earlier:
"How many more times do i have to say it? I Did return it in time .EBAY told me they were putting a stop on it to allow me to get it back in time . I had it collected by DHL as instructed but 3 weeks later the case was closed because, they said, i didn ot contact them during that time. What was there to contact them about?"
What was there to contact them about? You needed to escalate the claim (ask ebay to step in and help)! That's what you needed to contact them about. Letting it go is the mistake you made. You ignored the claim. Plus closing the chargeback with your bank. WHY??????
As I said, sadly, you have lost your money this time, to a dodgy Chinese seller (join the queue). Learn from it and don't let it happen again.

·3 years agoOP, did you upload the tracking number in the dispute?
If you didn’t do so, then eBay’s automated process would not know that the items were returned.
You could contact eBay Live Chat with the tracking information and request an appeal based on that new information.
If that is unsuccessful, you can contact your bank and ask for a chargeback. However, do not do this unless you’ve exhausted the eBay avenue because eBay will immediately close an eBay case or appeal if simultaneously a chargeback request is opened. Use this as your last resort.
hughj72
OP3 years agoThe seller said he had sent replacements but gave no tracking number, so i knew he was scamming me like he had other s (also others who had bought the same product also had been sent faulty ones)
I tried liv e chat.It is useless and no way to contact a REAL person on the phone to explain the whole story
I contacted my bank about it a couple of months ago but closed that case myself because i thought it had been agreed already they were gonna send me a refund when i returned the items.(as it shows in the copy of the email i received which i have already posted here)

·3 years ago@hughj72, oh dear … The problem is that you didn’t really follow the MBG process. You ignored the timeframes and you unfortunately believed what appears to be a dodgy seller.
I make it a rule never to accept a replacement offer, except from a big box Australian business where I trust the seller and know that ACL protects me.
I wouldn’t believe a seller who has already let me down and wants to dangle a promise of replacement in front of me like a carrot ice cream in front of a donkey.
I would only return an eBay-purchased item within the MBG process.
As annoyed as you are, you’re out of pocket because you let yourself be strung along, or so I gauge from your replies.
I’ll also add that you should never let a situation like this go beyond the chargeback timeframe of your card issuer. (Check with your bank or read the T&Cs of your card. Timeframe varies but it will at MOST be 6 months. It could be as little as one or two months.)
If you follow the MBG process scrupulously, you should be protected.

·3 years agoNot eBay here, other members like yourself
Buyers cannot be scammed if they use the tools they are given
So are you saying you actually did open an item not as described dispute?
Why did you not follow through with it?
The seller cannot close a case, only eBay can, when the buyer fails to follow through with it
Or
It sounds (from what you posted) like you just did your own thing as the seller told you
In which case, if that is correct, you are not covered by eBay
eBay do not 'have the goods either' eBay do not sell anything, nor are goods sent to eBay
Maybe learn how these things actually work and you won't be out of pocket
