Seller asking for extra shipping cost after the auction has ended
Hi,
I bid, won and paid for an item on ebay. The seller marked it as shipped. Then I got an email from her saying that she paid an extra $4.00 for the item to be posted and asking me to pay this to her account.
I dont really agree on paying this since my basis on buying the item was the total amount indicated. I've asked the live chat customer support and advised that I dont have to pay for this however couldnt link me where the policy indicated this. I'd like to quote this to the seller.
I've made a few sells on ebay and a couple of times I miscalculated the postage and paid for this myself.
Advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

·3 years ago@kathixi, please, please look at the date of a thread when you post…
This one started in the year 2012, and ended just 4 days later. Many things have changed in the intervening more than 10 years since this long-dead thread lay gathering dust.
I’m sure a moderator will be along shortly to lock this thread as it’s long since fulfilled its purpose and is no longer relevant in the year 2023… but you could always start a new thread to see whether other eBay members share your worry about an instance of increased postage from your UK seller…

·3 years agoI am in a similar situation. I won an auction as the only bidder. Paid starting bid of £85 for item and £45 shipping now seller is asking for £185 shipping saying shipping cost went up. I pointed out I can see other similar items also from UK have shipping £40 to £80 so I think they are lying to recoup perceived loss on auction.

·3 years agoGiven you have brought up antique thread - the answer to your post - is don't fall for it.
Stop communication with the seller - you have stated you paid - ie the purchase price - including postage - now wait for it to be posted - then delivered.
If not posted & delivered - open an item not received - after the estimated delivery date - immediately - no matter what the seller tries on.
Don't close it until you either have the item - or a refund.
