Seller cancelling order after I accepted their counter offer.
Summary: In the discussion, peachy_summers_9 raises a concern about a seller canceling an order after a counteroffer was accepted. *casey* and springyzone participate in the conversation, although the content of their responses is missing. The issue highlights the frustration and potential problems with sellers backing out after offers are accepted, a common challenge in online marketplaces.
Just a little frustrated, this is maybe more of a rant lol. I sent an offer on an item and the seller countered it at $200 which I accepted (buy it now was $230) I immediately paid. Then almost straight away I received a message from the seller saying they are going to cancel the sale as they don't want to sell it for less than the buy it now price (even though they countered my offer???)
Anyways I replied saying slightly frustrating but all good, and they still haven't cancelled the order yet... I've asked them to cancel it promptly for refund purposes and am still waiting.
Love this for me, rant over hahaha

·1 year agoHopefully the sale has now been cancelled and your refund is on it's way - it will go to your original funding source and may take a few days.
But to add, check what reason the seller uses/ used for the cancellation as if it's anything that puts you at fault
"Buyer requested" or "Problem with buyer's address", report it to eBay .
Sellers only receive a final value fee credit for cancellation under certain circumstances and this isn't one of them.
The seller's sold items back in March and April so would know all about managed payments and even if their payment is on hold, as Springy said, that makes no difference to you.
The seller can still refund immediately and should have done so at the time of telling you they wouldn't be selling the item.
TBH, I'd be furious to have a refund of $200 held up in this situation and I commend you for the words you've used in your feedback.

I'm impressed anyway, you gave excellent, very clear feedback to that seller, plus you've found your way here to the boards to outline your problem & you know you are on a messageboard. You'd be amazed how many people mistake us for ebay workers.
The seller, to be blunt, is a fool. You accepted their counter offer but they should have thought more about what they really wanted before making it. They may live to regret not accepting the sale.
The seller appears to have had a reasonable number of sales in the past. Not a big seller by any means, but enough experience behind them to know that they need to refund if a sale is not going ahead.
The problem may be that as an occasional seller (with no other sales in the past year), ebay would treat them as a new seller and I suspect their money is on hold for 30 days.
That makes no difference to the situation though. You paid, you need to be refunded swiftly.
If the seller does not do this, keep an eye on the expected delivery date and once that has passed, open an ebay claim for item not received. They can't ignore that and ebay would force a refund, I think.

·1 year agoGood for you, for giving the seller negative feedback.
You really do have to wonder about some sellers as this was the 5th time it had been listed,
unsold for the first 4 !
