Seller stopped responding after receiving my returned item.

Summary: zains.silver expressed concern that a seller has stopped responding after receiving a returned item. sandypebbles and countessalmirena engaged in the discussion, with countessalmirena followed by others including gutterpunkz05, offering insights or possibly similar experiences related to returning items to sellers. The conversation indicates a focus on the challenge of dealing with unresponsive sellers after a return, an issue that resonates with other participants.

    Hi,

I have purchased a laptop from a big corporate seller (one who makes operating systems amongst other things) last year.

The laptop had a hardware failure in August, which is just outside the 12 months standard warranty period, however they have accepted to resolve the issue and provided a return label. They also agreed to process a refund after receiving the item. After I sent the item using the provided return label, they confirmed that they have received the item (all logged in ebay messages) and that they will process the refund, however they stopped respondingsince that message. No refund yet and it's been 2 months since they confirmed that they received the faulty laptop.

Ebay has refused to provide direct help since its outside the 30 day period from purchase date, even though the seller has clearly taken the device and everything is recorded on eBay's platform.

This is not a standard small business seller, it's a big corporate seller, you might get the hint of who it could be reading the first sentence.

What can I do to atleast get my device back or the refund that I was promised. Again everything is logged on eBay's messages.

Please help suggest what further actions I should take here if you've experienced similar cases.

    Your help is much appreciated.

If that’s the relevant one, OP should contact the relevant Consumer Protection agency.

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/where-to-go-for-consumer-help

It’s beyond eBay’s authority or ability to remedy.

This official release  may help.  Hopefully being an official release it will not breach forum rules.

    Mod Update: Update from Microsoft

We wish to inform you that the Microsoft eBay Store Australia will be closing indefinitely from today.

The Store will remain active for any order/return enquiries until Friday 28 June, 2024. The closure of the Microsoft eBay Store Australia does not affect your entitlement to make a return within the relevant return period for a product, or your entitlement to a remedy in respect of product warranty breaches, or product failures which constitute a breach of statutory guarantees owed to you by Microsoft under the Australian Consumer Law.

If, after 28 June 2024, you wish to make a return or a warranty claim, or raise any other concerns regarding products purchased through the Microsoft eBay Store Australia, please contact our Microsoft Store customer service team on ebaysupport@microsoft.com.

Can you post an item number of one of the seller’s listings?

I won’t say any more than that just yet…

You are correct, eBay will not do anything after the 30 day time limit, no exceptions

eBay have nothing to do with warranties (even when there a real one and not just a word on the screen)

Being 'logged on eBay's messages is not going to change either of the above

I have not had a similar experience as I would never dream of buying something like this off an eBay seller

I would be buying in store or from the official website for the store, which they would have if they are a big corporate seller who are authorised to sell the brand

Was this seller an authorised seller/re-seller for the brand?  (regardless how big they are)

Have you contacted the company in question directly?

This is assuming you have checked the funding source for your payment, which is where the refund will go to
