Selling Perfumes that are copies of Chanel No 5

I have bought two lots of Chanel No 5 perfume from 2 different buyers. I bought 2 bottles from 1 buyer but had not opened them. When I did it was leaking and was a copy and lasted on my skin for about 10 minutes if that.

A friend wanted a bottle for someone and I ordered it then realised it would be fake too. I tried to cancel the order in a few minutes I have not had any response from the seller. No reply at all and I am unable to Warn and write a Review on the site.

I can not get any one from ebay to help. I did send a message to ebay but they denied there was an issue that they are FAKE. So other people will have their $$$$ stolen by these SCAMs

I think you may be in luck.

You say you sent a message to ebay but it doesn't sound to me that you actually opened a proper ebay claim. Or you may not have.

With that first purchase, you need to go into our My ebay section and look at the purchase section and open a claim. A proper claim. For faulty items. You only get 30 days though after the delivery date so you cannot afford to waste time. Do it today if you are still in time.

You don't claim that they are fake because ebay can't see the items, it can't accuse the seller of selling fakes, it wouldn't know. But faulty, leaky, broken, whatever... that is an objective thing.

Keep it simple. Don't go into details like "the fragrance only lasts 10 minutes". So what. The ad probably didn't guarantee how long it would last.  Your only comment needs to focus on how the products are faulty, leaking. And I would claim that both are leaking. You may even be able to take a photo and attach as evidence if it shows significant leakage as it may be visible.

The seller can ignore you but they can't ignore an official ebay claim. If they do, you simply follow it up (don't let it lapse) and claim your refund.

You are probably correct in that your second purchase will also be a fake. There are a lot of fake things sold on ebay, you have to have careful judgement before you buy some products. Again, when the item does arrive, check for faults. If there are any, open a proper ebay claim, but again, you can't just open one and say because it is fake.

And seriously, if you want genuine high end products or anything wwith a warranty etc, only buy from real shops or authorised sellers on ebay.

"What is the item number ?"

Please  give the item number and not the seller's name.

"I did send a message to ebay but they denied there was an issue that they are FAKE"

As a general comment,  I've seen (mostly but not all Chinese)  sellers with pages of negative feedback for selling fake perfume.

eBay won't do anything about it.

In fact, most are shown as :

One of eBay's most reputable sellers.

    Consistently delivers outstanding customer service

There are genuine Chanel cosmetics and fragrances on eBay - vintage ones or those no longer available but which were purchased privately and being onsold - but unless you’re buying from an authorised reseller of Chanel who is selling on eBay with permission to do so from Chanel, I wouldn’t buy a Chanel fragrance from any seller on eBay. In particular I wouldn’t do so if the price were less than RRP.

Chanel don’t sell their fragrances at discount prices. Yes, there are sales where one can score a nice discount, but I hope you can see the difference. A good customer of Chanel makeup or fragrances could receive an offer of a certain discount available for a short time, either directly from Chanel stores in Australia (or o/s if that’s where the customer made the purchase), or from a nationally known authorised seller of Chanel (e.g., DJ, Myer). That doesn’t equate to the fragrances being available to anyone and everyone for an indefinite period at a substantially lower cost than RRP.

The latter is simply a cheat. Bottles and boxes faked to look like the real thing (but the differences are there if you have the genuine item as a comparison); scent itself faked to smell like the real thing (but only upon immediate use – the bass notes are different, the fragrance doesn’t last, there’s a a weakness to the scent or an underlying bitterness). And… you don’t know which chemicals are included. Some may be very dangerous - carcinogenic, etc.

So… the first thing I would point out is that buying relatively cheap Chanel fragrance is to all intents and purposes inviting a fake. It will be a fake; designer fragrances make money through maintaining exclusivity and part of that is the price.

Secondly, unless the seller is authorised (by Chanel), they’re either not selling the genuine article or there’s a real problem about the source - e.g., stolen.

Thirdly, you cannot use your “I know it’s fake” argument to prove that it’s fake under eBay’s MBG. You’d need to take the perfume to a Chanel shop and have it confirmed as inauthentic by an authorised representative there, on their letterhead.

So that is what you’d need to do. Take the bottles you think are fakes and have them “disauthenticated” by an authorised representative. For legal purposes, you are not an authorised person / expert and personal opinion isn’t evidence.

So this is a different seller  to the one you've left negative feedback.

You bought it, immediately  decided it was fake,  and now want to cancel and  leave negative feedback  again ?

You can't leave neutral or negative feedback for a top rated seller for 7 days.

What is the item number ?

So you purchased something,  which means you read the ad, and dcecided it was legit.  Than, a few minutes later you realised the item was a ''fake''.   Funny how a few minutes makes a difference.  Strange, why didnt you realise up front.

A seller is not obliged to cancel a sale,

Firstly - you did not buy from a buyer - but a seller.

As for ' Fake ' - your word against theirs.

Open a case for the leaky - damaged - you cannot send it back - it's leaking.

Check out David Jones or Myer for Chanel No.5 - you'll get what you paid for.

What was the proof you sent eBay they were fake?  (as in, they do not just take someone's word for it)

How did you send your message?  (useless to email as that is bot/auto response)

And you have left neg feedback to warn others

And you will not get any response from the seller, it clearly says on their page they are away until September 5
