systemic issue of sellers canceling as buyer request
Summary: btecau initiated a discussion about a recurring issue where sellers cancel transactions citing buyer requests when it's not actually the case. twyngwyn and lezned-toycollector contributed to the conversation by sharing their insights and experiences with similar situations, expressing frustration and seeking solutions. The discussion continued with additional comments from *casey* and further engagement from btecau, who elaborated on the inconvenience this practice causes for buyers. btecau sought advice on how to handle and prevent these misleading cancellations, seeking input from others on possible solutions and sharing their concern about the systemic nature of the issue.
I have purchased in the past week and a half about 5 different items. Of those items i have now had 2 separate sellers cancel the order as buyer requested cancellation when no such request has been made.
Looking at the most recent seller i notice in his feedback that he has done it to others.
he even replied to negative feedback with "I get to decide if i want to cancel order"
Canceling ebay purchases as buyer requested order cancellation when they have requested no such cancellation is a violation of ebay policy. I am shocked that the seller doesn't have to give any evidence to this request.

OP8 months agoFurther more I now have contact from the seller trying to gaslight me telling me that I "did request a cancellation" we both know i didn't and he is arguing that its not a violation of the policy because he is "just a guy not a business" and "provided a refund"

"additionally if you report the seller to ebay they don't seem to care"
At least try.
It's NOT allowed.
Using this link, click on "Report a seller"

Because YOU can be penalised
"If buyers have excessive cancelled orders or make excessive requests to cancel orders, they may be subject to the consequences outlined in our Abusive Buyer Policy"

OP8 months agoI have reported it. just like i reported this item that another seller told me they where out of stock of
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/146441595442
they never removed the listing and kept the stock level at 4. that was nearly a week ago and the seller and listing is still there and ebay has taken no action despite me both calling ebay customer service and at their instruction reporting the seller through that link above.
So its fairly clear to me that sellers don't get penalized

·8 months agoUsually, sellers choose that option so they don’t receive higher fees for being ‘out of stock’……sad, but true
