Tax invoices issued by EBay do not show surcharges and eBay is charging incorrect GST
Hi Ebay, firstly your chatbot is absolutely hopeless! Show me how I can chat to your Accounts team? Secondly, by law, you must provide me with an invoice/receipt which shows exactly what I have paid AND this should match with my bank account. I paid $686.63 for my item, yet you charged/withdrew $707.23 on my bank account. Thirdly, your GST calculation should be 10% and you have charged over 10%. How can I actually speak to EBay (not chat with the hopeless chatbot) ??? Please explain.

OP1 year agoWhilst the chatbot is hopeless - it doesn’t let you inquire about actual payments and the corresponding bank deduction, I did finally speak with EBay who were very helpful. So much better when you can actually speak to someone. Thank you Community for providing the “contact an agent” shortcut.

·1 year agoThe bot is very basic with equally basic generic responses - always has been. For any situation not directly addressed within the help pages, it is necessary to speak to an agent.

·1 year agoUsing the "Help" hyperlink at the bottom of this page, click on the blue "Contact us" button... select buying... select "paying for items"... select "Chat with our automated assistant"... type the words "speak to agent" in the text field.

If you wish to converse with an eBay agent, use the "Help" hyperlink at the bottom of this page and select "Contact us".
When using the chat bot, to have it transfer you to an agent, try typing in the words "speak to agent"... simples

OP1 year agoDoes not give me the option to chat to a person. Where exactly is that feature, as when I press contact/chat, the chatbot ask several questions, none of them relating to incorrect invoice and incorrect payments withdrawn from my bank account.

OP1 year agoIf I buy from USA, eBay shows an Australian dollar total based on their conversion rate. Does eBay then request the Australian dollar value to be deducted from my account or do they request USD value from my account?

·1 year agoYou are charged in AUD using the exchange rate current at the time of the transaction. Which will usually be different to the exchange rate when you look at the item.
That's why the prices are italicised. They are estimates.

OP1 year agoThank you, just spoke to EBay who said it will deduct as USD and not the AUD conversion. The additional charges are from my bank, who charge a conversion fee because it is a USD deduction/payment.

·1 year agotry buying Samsung next time you need a phone. I'm using S9 (quite old really) and the screen size let's me read everything.
